I've recently started using punbb/fluxbb forum software. I'm very impressed with it's relative simplicity and speed.

I'm trying to run 2 forums in tandem on different hosts, trying to maintain a 24 hour uptime ( if one is down etc.)

Would there be any way to merge the 2 databases together without 'breaking anything'? In this way, the forums would appear as one ...

I'm using sqlite2 ... has anybody been merging db's in this way before?
ie. any mods or plugins, perhaps?

A new user was registered with the same IP address as you within the last hour. To prevent registration flooding, at least an hour has to pass between registrations from the same IP. Sorry for the inconvenience.


Please solve this problem....also i have another prob...at footer i didnt get the changes of PHPBB....alstline(copyrights)...plz tell me in which page i have to change this...

Search engines may think forum.banglalibrary.org and www.forum.banglalibrary.org are two different sites.You should set up a permanent redirect (technically called a "301 redirect") between these sites. Once you do that, you will get full search engine credit for your work on these sites.

Due to this error we lose our valuable hits.

We create a new .htaccess file with the redirect code in it. The above mentioned problem was solved. But a major problem arises that no one can not log in or register in forum. Even administration user id was not working.

Then we delete the .htaccess file. After that the login problem was resolved. We try to add this code in the .htaccess.dist, but it also provides no positive result for redirect. How can we use the redirect code?

For starters add nofollow to all external links, this will stop the initial people who have a general idea how spam works.
Then if it carries on remove the ability to add a sig or website url when you have less than 10 posts.

A couple of people have mailed me lately with questions regarding the converter. When one of them said that they've bought the converter I asked what he meant as it's available for free here:

Agora is the PunBB "version" for Joomla if I've understood it all correct.

I haven't made any development on the converter for at least a couple of years now so it's far from updated. It feels wrong somehow that they're selling a non-updated version of the converter that's available for free... and should be available for free.

Anything I can/should do about this?

I have installed censoring table and set conf_value=1 for conf_name=o_censoring. After I logged in as admin, I can see all of the filter words. But I have to click update on EACH word, otherwise it won't work. The problems is that I have thousands of words and many databases. So I have to use program to do this job. Please enlighten me how to make it work after I load censoring table and set up config o_censoring=1?
I have deleted all php files in cache directory after I filled up censoring table and set up o_censoring=1. It won't help.
Is there another switch to activate the filtering function?
Please help!

The Stephen Malkmus PunBB message board has recently been invaded by a very annoying user posting loads of threads with links to porn sites.

I have contacted the administrator of the board to try and get them to sort it out but they seem to have gone awol (they've only posted 8 times in the boards 5 year existence!)

Anyone know if it's possible to allocate admin status to a regualr user who can then sort out this problem?

I'm thinking of setting up a small site using punBB, but I'm wondering first of all, just how susceptible is it to spam? I don't have time to go through and delete spam posts every day, and when spam does get through, I would hope it can be handled quickly and easily.
How does punBB stack up on this front?

It seems this is no longer true. Versions 1.3.x seem to require other language packs that can be found somewhere else: http://punbb.informer.com/wiki/punbb13/language_packs
I now get calls for support because I created a language pack for version 1.2 and people attempt to use it with some version 1.3.x.

Could someone please update the information on http://punbb.informer.com/downloads.php to show users where to find their language packs for versions 1.3.x?
