So advise is needed how to remove the "Report" link from the posts footer. Reason is that users quite often click on it instead of Replay. Other option would be not to remove the link but just to change it so that the post is not deleted.
Thanks in advance!

Using PHP in Template...

I know this topic has been posted a million times, but all the searching I've done doesn't seem to help my specific situation. I know that to include a PHP file you use the <pun_include "whatever.php">... but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

What I'm doing is integrating the forum into my websites template. I've taken a rather simple approach and just built a table around the content in the main.tpl. Right above the forum content, I've used <pun_include "boxes.php">. Boxes.php is a php file that echos out php based features of my site, such as a schedule, calendar, and recent posts. Each feature is placed within one of three boxes atop the page. All of this is done in the boxes.php file, which is uploaded to the forum/includes/user/ directory.

When I load the forum, nothing appears. It's as if the file wasn't even included. There's no error, no html structure of the boxes, nothing. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but was wondering if perhaps it's not even possible to do what I'm trying to do.

It's 5:15 in the morning so if I've left out any information, just post and I'll be more than happy to provide you with what you need.

edit: please move to troubleshooting if needs be

Hi guys,

Quite recently I found out that some posts were being ignored when rebuilding my search index.

i.e. I can search and find a specific word in say, a particular topic of a particular section, but in some other cases the word I'm looking for simply just won't show.
I tested with plenty of words wihtout any ' or - or . next to them and the results seems to be clear; some of the posts on my forum do not get indexed and if they do, results simply won't show.

I'm under 1.2.22 and this problem is recent, so it may have occured when I moved from 1.2.16 to 1.2.22

Any questions, advice?

Thanks!

[release] IP Geolocation

This is a simple extension (my first PunBB extension) that I needed for the forums I run. Hopefully others may find it useful as well.

It will simply display the geographic location of users on their profile (in Private information) to administrators. It determines the geographic location based on their IP address, using the free GeoPlugin web service. Any feedback is appreciated.

Note: Geolocation information will only be displayed for users who registered after this extension is installed. I may add a feature later to populate the locations for all existing users as well.

Version 1.0
ip_geolocation-1.0.zip

Few questions on installation process

Hi all.

I'm thinking of upgrading my existing php old punbb forum into .NET version. Today I finally downloaded and gave it a try, so that it would feel comfortable in my production environment (Win2003R2 + IIS6 + MySQL 5.0.61).

First discrepancy found was missing "Port" parameter from installation screen and ConnectionString consequently. Quite alot of people are using MySQL not on default port, so I had to patch Install.aspx manually to fix it.

The second was quite a surprise to see that in every table the UserId field is specified as VARCHAR(200) instead of expected INT(n). For this reason, table UsersInRoles created in UTF-8 database gave an error about maximal key length exceeded (which is 333 = 1000 bytes, worst case for three-byte characters in UTF8 encoding scheme).

Is there any humanly possible reason for user identifiers to NOT be integers but VARCHARS of 200 characters?

Thanks in advance.

Hello reader,

i'm currently working on a website for my guild. It looks really sweet and is working pretty properly aswell, i editted the punbb forum to my style etc.

However, i want to add login functionality to all my pages. I have a widget that has member functionality in it, such as uploading screenshots and other private information. To achieve this i want to link this login-div to the punbb forum/user accounts.

I figured out that i had to add

define('FORUM_ROOT', './forum/');
require FORUM_ROOT.'include/common.php';

to my pages in order to achieve that. But i can't figure out where i can find the user informations. I saw that it was stored in an array in 1.2, but i can't figure out how it works now.

could anyone help me out?

I just want a simple login/logoff function on a random page, the define/require works properly. Also this includes having the check if the user is allready logged in.

thanks in advance.

(When it's done i can link the webpage don't want to spoil )
