Topic: Arabic or chinese letters ?

Hello,

I have a problem with chinese and arabic letters, that appear like this "????????????"

Does someone have an idea on how to fix it ?

I use 1.3 version, and the problem is still there. as well as the issue of not being able to search by topic name (more important issue than the fiste one.)

Have you upgraded your forum from 1.2 or this is a fresh 1.3 installation?

What database and version do you use? Could you find what encodings and collations are set in the database?

I use Mysql with phpmyadmin 2.11.9.4
encodings utf8 unicode ci

First of all, make a backup of your database via phpmyadmin. Then see what collation tables have ('Collation' column in the table list). If it differs from 'utf8_general_ci' try the method described here: http://punbb.informer.com/forums/topic/ … rk-on-132/

I checked my tables, and on the collation line, interclassement column, it's written ut8 general ci.
