Topic: Trouble installing.

Please Help,
I am having trouble installing punbb.
I have uploaded punbb to my root server. I have created a mysql database (linux) with database user..
I have entered all the details on the 'punbb/admin/install form.
When I click on this these details come up..

"Unable to connect to MySQL and select database. MySQL reported: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

The error occurred on line 44 in /home/linweb01/p/page-to-stage.org/user/htdocs/punbb/include/dblayer/mysqli.php".

Any advice would be GLADLY received!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jo,

It would appear that MySQL isn't running.  Try typing in terminal window:

RedHat (Fedora/CentOS)
/etc/init.d/mysqld start

Ubuntu:
/etc/init.d/mysql start

And then give the setup another whirl.

Don't use your trouble to install punbb install fluxbb instead
www.fluxbb.org much better!
