Topic: PhpBB Lookalike

Funny how the oxygen stylesheet can be modified slightly to resemble phpBB!

Oh I also created an image upload mod which up loads an image into a specific directory and inserts the bbcode/url in to the message.

Feel free to test.

Re: PhpBB Lookalike

Thanks, I like the CSS, I called it phpBB.css and I'm using it on my forum: http://hcgtv.net/forum/. All I did was increase the font size to 12 point.

Oh it works better too if you change the TABLE.punmain border to #006699 ...

Tried that, I like it better with #AAC9EB, more subtle.

Re: PhpBB Lookalike

Why exactly would someone want a PhpBB lookalike style?

There are thousands of those, an original style would be better imo.
(i guess this is original if you only consider PunBB forums)

Re: PhpBB Lookalike

If you really want it to mimic phpBB I'm afraid you will have to connect with a 14k modem to get the full effect.

Re: PhpBB Lookalike

Tried that, punbb still loads fast over a 9600 baud gprs connection.

Re: PhpBB Lookalike

I took out my Hayes 1200 baud modem and punBB still flies smile

Re: PhpBB Lookalike

One thing to keep in mind when using a new stylesheet is that you also have to create a new image in the /img directory for the new topic indicator.

I was missing posts on my forums using the new phpBB stylesheet until I figured out that I need a phpBB_new.png image.

Re: PhpBB Lookalike

do they have to be .png or can they be .gif? i would like a small animated one, nothing fancy tho.

You have 2 choices is you want to use a gif:

1. Change occurences like this line in index.php:

$icon = '<img src="img/'.$cur_user['style'].'_new.png" width="16" height="16" alt="">';

2. If you are in a Unix environment, create a symlink:

ln -s animated.gif style_new.png
