Re: PunBB 1.2

Rickard,

As bugs are fixed, how will updates happen?

Will the zip on the download directory be updated?

Re: PunBB 1.2

It depends. If we run into any showstopping bugs, I will probably update the zip and still call it 1.2, but if the bugs that surface are only minor, I will wait a week or so and then release 1.2.1.

sounds like he wanted the whole site wink

The news plugin, that's the one I wanted. Hopefully I can redesign my site before it comes.

As good as the new PunBB site is copying it's look and layout would be pretty cheap smile

Re: PunBB 1.2

I was especially looking forward to the news plugin so I can redo my site. smile

Re: PunBB 1.2

Thanks again to everyone in this community.  In many ways I feel like were on the cutting edge of the forums available on the web.  This software is simply beautiful.  The code is clean, the css is clean, its rocket fast, and..... oh.... no.... tears are coming to my eyes....

If its cheaper to run Windows than it is to run Linux, how come Microsoft has all the money?

It would also be breach of copyright. PunBB may be GPL but the web site isn't.

Re: PunBB 1.2

i didn't know you could copyright a layout... seems a bit ambigious not that i think people should copy punbb.org

Re: PunBB 1.2

Wow, it's magic!
First, my wireless connection was down. I told it to come up again... and it did!
Then, while loading punbb.org I told it to release 1.2... and you did!
I wonder what other needs this computer may satisfy... smile

Great job Rickard and Paul, thank you very much!

Re: PunBB 1.2

Thank you guys!!

This forum (punBB) became a need for me.

Thanks again.

Re: PunBB 1.2

Well done Rickard and the guys. And my database converted perfectly from 115 to 120.  Good to see those security fixes too.

Thanks and have a good sleep.

Paul.

Re: PunBB 1.2

Thanks for all the kind words smile

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I kept track of all the post-beta fixes I added. Here's what has changed since the beta:

* Fixed changing the "Save username and password between visits" setting not
being properly applied until next login.
* Improved search indexing to properly deal with words containing dots (e.g
   file.php) and words containing hyphens (e.g. round-up).
* Fixed BBCode pre-parsing being a bit too optimistic at times. Reported by
   ConnorHd.
* Implemented workaround for notorious Firefox "Slashdot bug".
* Fixed footer.php outputting an error message when accessed directly.
   Reported by paul_w.
* Fixed JavaScript error in user list. Reported by ShawnBrown.
* Fixed board index looking funny when there are no forums.
* Fixed odd looking HTTP_REFERER error message admin_options.php. Reported
   by zc923.
* Fixed not being able to add new user groups in PostgreSQL. Reported by
   XuMiX.
* Added option "Report new registrations" that sets whether people on the
admin mailing list are notified when a new user registers in the forums.
* Fixed JavaScript errors in profile. Reported by JohnS.
* Added username to the top header of all profile.php subpages. Thanks to
   Terrell Russell for the suggestion.
* The XHTML output of extern.php is now sementically correct.
* Fixed messages not being properly HTML encoded when previewing posts.
* Replaced CREATE INDEX with ALTER TABLE ... ADD INDEX syntax for MySQL in
the install and upgrade scripts. This is done to circumvent problems with
users not having the INDEX privilege.
* Fixed moderators not being able to update the "Essentials" page of the
profile if the permissions "Allow moderators to rename users" was disabled
   in admin/permissions. Reported by Groulala.
* Added language definitions for "Online" and "Offline" to lang_topic.
* Fixed invalid markup in index online list. Reported by snapsolutions.
* Added three language definitions to lang_common.
* Extern.php now uses language definitions from lang_index and lang_common.
* Added ability to exclude forums from extern.php output (e.g. a test
   forum).
* Users can now delete their own avatar.
* Moderators can now, if "Edit user profiles" is enabled in
   admin/permissions, delete user avatars.
* Added ability to edit read permissions for redirect forums.
* Fixed non-existing forums being displayed in admin_forums.php in empty
   categories.
* Environment and database statistics are now hidden from moderators in
   admin_index.php. Suggested by Madoor.
* Increased max size of AIM and Yahoo Messenger field to 30 characters.
* Fixed moderator column of forums not being updated when a moderator
   usernames changes. Reported by zargoth.
* Fixed moderators not being able to edit user profiles properly. Reported
   by Madoor.
* Fixed enabling censoring with no censor words entered resulting in only
one post being visible in viewtopic.
* Fixed upgrade script not inserting o_default_user_group into config table.
* Fixed turn_off_maintenance_mode.php not actually turning off maintenance
mode (for the second time I might add).
* Fixed use of undefined variable $server_reponse in include/email.php.
* Reformulated text regarding the creation of SQLite databases in install
   script.

Re: PunBB 1.2

Thanks for this beautiful release! I passed my night on it smile

Re: PunBB 1.2

My upgrade from 1.1.5 was also flawless, good job smile

Thanks to Paul for the CSS it was much easy to apply my colour scheme.

Re: PunBB 1.2

I successfully updated my forum too. It took me longer to adapt the stylesheets than to update the forum... wink

Re: PunBB 1.2

Any idea when we can expect the news plugin? I'm not asking for a specific date but just a general estimate; so I know if it's worth asking my mate to make me a basic one in the meantime.

Re: PunBB 1.2

I could release something tonight. I don't like the fact that people have raised expectation as to what it can do. It's extremely simple smile It just takes topics from a specific forum and outputs them according to a small template. It spits out  an index.html containing e.g. the latest 10 posts and then month-based archives (e.g. 2004-12.html) for the rest of the topics in the forum.

Re: PunBB 1.2

Well 1.2 is a very impressive release. Well done everyone who worked on it. I have just been going over the code, it's very tight wink. I set up a test version using SQLite, Thanks for including this feature Rickard, It was certainly a big surprise to see it on the features list. I can now run my content management system with punbb in either MySQL or SQLite so I'm happy.

What's next on schedule for release? Please say you have plans for a system that begins with P and ends with rivate Messaging wink
