Re: photo in profile

The best thing would be Pun was able to resize pic (cropped or not)

Why ?? Because even if you show how to make an avatar, the user wants simplicity.

Re: photo in profile

Don't think so.
You will always have to define a maximum size to prevent huge files from being uploaded and you having to pay for it.
So what's the difference between a limit of 500k and 60x60 pixels?

Guys, I think the meaning was that the code was too complicated to follow not that the picture was too big.

I  think you have don't understand my request smile

You put a photo ... any size or any weight (you fix the max on admin)

but it creates a thumb of this pic : cropped or not (defined by the max h/w in admin)

So people don't have to take a soft to reduce their pic : Pun could be able to do this on the fly (with GD or IM)

I think you haven't understood my response smile:

Let's say the user has a pic of himself he took with a digicam. These are usually around 2 Megs nowadays.
You don't want massive files like this so you limit the max upload size to 500 k in the admin like you suggested.

So what do people have to do now?
Use a software to downscale that pic before uploading. wink
So no work saved from them.

Re: photo in profile

Well, on invision it can crop it down using lost of code. But the disadvantage of this is that it can't not enlarge 2X is size, and can't strink 3X properly.
So, I prefer modifying before uploading.

[If u have the old invison codes, it can be worth to take a look.]

Re: photo in profile

Well, i think NetPBM or ImageMagick is the solution or not?

Re: photo in profile

I hope u dont forget me ...  smile

I 'll only have an option 2 upload a pic of himself and show that in the profile. If the size is too big, he couldn't upload it ... Fin

No, it's not facebook.... it's using the Upload mod (with thumbnail) and I copied the image tags into the Myspace Mod profiler.

But good idea, i'll take a look at facebook. smile

Re: photo in profile

Nice job tccyouth. Now that's a nice profile. Do you have to use the Myspace Mod, and hence, I would gather, a myspace account, to get the image in the profile?
