Topic: Text Editor

I am looking for a good and easy to use text editor for editing files on my PunBB board. I have OpenOffice and for some reason it takes everything out of format. Notepad is hard because everything is in one line. I am wondering what the best FREE text editor to use.

TextPad http://textpad.com/ is pretty good, and offers loads of configuration options with good syntax highlighting. It is only available on Windows platforms, though.

notepad2 is a good choice. i use it. in fact i replaced notepad on my box with it so it's my default text editor.

I like SciTE. It's not as lightweight as Notepad2, but I think it's an excellent editor:
