Topic: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

I thought the default description for PunBB forums was kind of cool back in the day, but now I think it's time to either replace it or allow users to input their own description in the install script. Suggestions?

"Programming is like sex: one mistake and you have to support it for the rest of your life."

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

PunBB - Bells and whistles only makes an awful noise, PunBB is just pure noiseless power.

I was looking at slogans for inspiration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ad … ng_slogans

This popped into my head "It takes a Digging and keeps on ticking."

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

Some nice ones.

We do have the option of not providing a description at all and letting the administrator enter it when the forum is installed. What do you guys think about that?

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

yes... could be done but how about something for you?

PunBB - developed by the good guys, installed by idiots

erm... maybe not

Seriously I'd suggest leaving something in there, even if it just another link back to punBB.org

I prefer having a standard one to change rather than none at all or having to put one when I install the forums.

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

PunBB: Not making the users online info table 90% of your database like SMF.

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

PunBB: --> Insert description here <--

echo "deadram"; echo; fortune;

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

Id rather not see the option to set the description in the install.

Punbb - The Vision of one man come to life.

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

PunBB: Agora deflaten.

Probably the best one for the smallest amount of people around to understand ^^

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

It's just that we've had it for over 4 years tongue

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

PunBB: It just tastes better.

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

Simple and fast, how often do you see it in life?

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

I might have to change my vote. Not only is that an important statement, it's also an inside reference with a nice backsi? er, backstory. tongue

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

Yup, but it's a insider tagline. From the outside, you'll take it on the first degree.

Re: "Unfortunately no one can be told..."

just so it's clear i'm quoting hcgtv and not taking credit for it.
