Topic: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

To install it, I should start with the smilies manager.
There is this line:

2. RUN ]
install_mod_en.php

I don't get it! How do I run a php file?

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Moved to Modifications
You go to the file in your web browser wink

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Now did you mean:
www.mysite.com/forum/install_mod_en.php ?
Doesn't work!

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Then probably the file is missing, double-check if you properly uploaded the file in ./forum and it the file name is correct.

You're right :$
The file help.php refers to the one in lang, not the one in the root of the forum, right? Because the latter has no:
echo ' '.$lang_help['produces'].' <img src="img/smilies/'.$cur_img.'" width="15" height="15" alt="'.$cur_text.'" /><br />'."\n";

EDIT: Neither does the other one have it!
I am in step 10!

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

I start to doubt that I have the right help.php file!
The content is too small!

<?php

$lang_help = array(

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

I'm still stuck in the middle! Waiting for someone to figure out what is going wrong with my help.php
Thanks :-).

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

I've downloaded PunToolbar 1.4 (man it's been hard to get through that french website big_smile) and I found no install_mod_en.php file, are you sure you're not mixing up mods?
You gotta follow precisely that the readme.txt file explains because it requires lot of modifications to your existing files.
To activate the mode you gotta run the AP_PunToolBar.php plugin script. To do so (after you've installed it), go to the administration panel of your forum and check the lower left corner, you'll find the PunToolbar link.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Oh, I could have sent it you if you wanted it.
What I am working with first is the smiliesmanager. It's a first step before moving to puntoolbar!

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Oops, I utterly missed that one.
I've read the readme.txt file, sounds very simple. Upload everything to your forum, then run the install_mod_en.php file and then delete it. Make the changes to the parser.php script (which you can find in the include subfolder) and make the changes in the help.php file too (note: not the language file, the main help.php file in the forum root). When you're done go to the admin panel and check the smilies plugin. Should be simple enough.

Hum..I actually have done all that, and arrived to the help.php file part, and then I couldn't find the line it's asked to change.
I gotta find if there was any original help.php file.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Have you made any change to help.php in the past? if not get a new one from a downloaded version and edit it. In the end that's only a help file, it's not crucial but it's helpful nonetheless.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

That's what I did. I checked and I remember taht in a try before, I mixed up the lang/eng/help.php with help.php, and now they were similar. I replaced it back now.
The server is busy now, so didn't get to go through the rest yet.

When you're done go to the admin panel and check the smilies plugin. Should be simple enough.

What was that?
It says in the readme file:

You must now go to the plugin to add your smilies.

Perhaps, to be abble to upload image, you'll have to
CHMOD img/smilies/ directory.

You can custom the upload limits (size, width and height)
by editing AP_Smilies.php ; see the top of the file.

Anything crucial and specific before going on with puntoolbar itself?

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

Papillon wrote:

Open your FTP client, connect to your host, open the img folder, right click on the smilies folder (if there's none create one) choose CHMOD and se it to 777 (or 0777, or put a flag in every checkbox you find).
As for the rest, follow my previous instructions.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

The detail about CHMOD is something I figured out thanks to all the help I am getting from here. I did it yesterday with the avatars forum!
I was just wondering what was that thing about having to upload smilies!

I'll get back with more questions when this server of mine works, it seems to be busy now.

Papillon wrote:

Since it's asking for a CHMODded folder, my guess is that the plugin will upload the smilies to the folder. Check the plugin and see what it does, perhaps a screenshot would be helpful.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Once you have installed the Smilies Manager, you will have to add smilies as there are none by default

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

yemgi wrote:

There are some smilies in the smilies folder.
But if I add them, how to configure the..symbols, like smile for a the smiling smiley, and wink for wink, etc

I am done now.

For finishing the installation you must go on the plugin
so that the fields of configuration are installed
and to configure the punToolBar.

What plugin?

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

O_O Something went wrong!
Not sure what happened to "viewtopic"! My topics are showing plain text now!
Arg..I'll have to get the backup running back in the forum, and then do it all over again next time sad.

EDIT:
This is what's wrong:
Step 18, replace in view_topic with this:

                        <label><textarea name="req_message" id="req_message" rows="7" cols="75" tabindex="1"></textarea></label>
<?php require PUN_ROOT.'include/puntoolbar.php'; ?>

Where is the include folder of puntoolbar has cache_puntoolbar.php, not puntoolbar.php.
So now the topics can be viewed just fine, BUT...the posting is messed up! It's a white interface, and no post message button! I gotta check the code of post.php too then sad

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

Re: Installing Puntoolbar 1.4

Is puntoolbar.php in your ./forum/include folder? Can we have a link to your forums?

It was there, just as stated in the readme file. For the first time, I had no trouble understanding what was asked to be done, and I did that exactly, but eh..didn't work. I cleaned up all the mess.
Now here is my forum: www.speakmoroccan.com/forum that I am trying to make better smile.
