or you can change it with the version changer plugin available on the download page http://punbb.org/downloads.php
I think the version number is in the db. So, don't look for it in the php code.

I just want to give an advice to everybody here.
I made the whole site for J4K3. He had pledged to give about 100$
He has never paid me and he has banned me from his forum with this affront "Fuck off silly french wanker"
Do not make anything with this guy.
I'm also looking for a good solution to deface his site.

The problem seems to be linked to your smtp. So let's try using the php function mail.

in admin/options, have you put something for smtp server adress / username / password ?
If yes, put a blank in each field. This done, retry sending your emails with broadcoast ...
If no, I have no idea what the problem can be.

It's normal. It's due to the way punbb mark read topics. Indeed, to mark topic as read, you must clic on"mark topic as read".
This way of marking topics as read may be modified with 1.3. Waiting, you can have a look at that mod : http://www.punres.org/viewtopic.php?id=321
