I am running a really small forum for Christian techs here. Took some time, but got it up and it is fun. Thanks for the great forum!

I have a link in for my IRC chat, that I have linked, which is in the news. I want that to pop up into a new window.

Is there an extension that will allow for popups from bbcode? If not, can someone implement that into the bbcode extension. or is that something that is built into bbcode? Thank you!

How do I go about this? I have Daris Portal installed and created a news forum that I update with forum news. But the portals news section does not read bbcode. So I wanted to have dual capabilities with bbcode and html within only certain forums. My site is here. As you can see the news section, it is butchered looking because of this. Any help would be appreciated. Or even if someone knows how to enable bbcode in Daris Portal. Thank you in advance!

EDIT: It does read bbcode, I guess the question changes, how to I create a pop-up for the irc chat link in bbcode for the news section? Thanks!

I have an issue, when I create a subforum and try to change the permissions to not allow Guests to view it, you can not longer see the Subforum listed on the main Forum page. I can get to the subforum, once I enter the main forum topic, then the subforum is available. Any ideas? Thank you!

Thanks Grant, got it working. One question, I am having issues in the Extensions Admin Panel, when I go in there, I get this now:

Notice: Undefined index: Extension loading error in /home/www/christiantechs/extensions/pun_admin_manage_extensions_improved/extension_list.php(310) : eval()'d code on line 74

Notice: Undefined index: Missing manifest in /home/www/christiantechs/extensions/pun_admin_manage_extensions_improved/extension_list.php(310) : eval()'d code on line 74

thanks, but it is still not ready to use in a production forum.

I know, I probably shouldn't be using it, but it is great. My forum ver 1.3.2

Thank you! Great extension already, had to disable your check on echoing out that ?German? statement in the signature.

Would you like me to try uploading a different format? I'm using XP though.

Sure, I tried it in XP also, says its a bad zip file. Maybe you can upload it in tar.gz, or even bzip would be awesome! Thanks!

I am simply using 'unzip' for Linux.

I get his when I uncompress your extension:

I cannot even unzip the files, I get this error:

[/home/user/Desktop/ip_to_country.zip]
  End-of-central-directory signature not found.  Either this file is not
  a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive.  In the
  latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
  the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo:  cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/user/Desktop/ip_to_country.zip or
          /home/user/Desktop/ip_to_country.zip.zip, and cannot find /home/user/Desktop/ip_to_country.zip.ZIP, period.

That obviously, halts the entire install.

Admin Approval Registration

To be able to do that, plus be able to delegate who can allow users into the forum. Thank you!

PLEASEEEE??? Thank you!

Personally, I think that is a detestable idea. One of my real hates with sites where it occurs is those things which follow you around the page. A guaranteed way to make sure I never visit a site again.

At the end of the day, your site, your rules, but I would suggest reconsidering that idea.

I agree. But the only reason with this, is because there will be a live chat happening at all times on every page. So it makes sense to have it visible, as not to miss out on the conversation.

I got the chat extension working relatively well in the portal; however, the js chat box disappears when I go to a post on the forum. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

FIXED: It was Yonash's y_repository extension. Once disabled, the chat box worked correctly.

I got it fixed so that chat shows in every forum. Problem was Yonash y_repository extension, it broke it badly. Disabled, works fine now.

Using version 1.3.

We need to do this ...

1. New users registers, with confirmation link by email as usual.
2. New user confirms by clicking link.
3. New user then sees a message stating that registration is not complete until an administrator has approved it.
4. Admin (or moderator) gets an email containing an approval link.
5. If the admin person approves, he/she clicks on the approval link.
6. New user gets an email saying the registration has been approved, followed by welcome message.

I imagine this is possible. But I can't find an extension for it.
Are we being too optimistic?    smile

Is there anyway that we can make this happen? It would be a very useful tool! Thanks!

Good stuff, got it working in the portal. Now is there a way for the chat box to stay on screen while scrolling down the page? This would be nifty, as to keep the chat box on screen at all times, so that people will use it. Thank you in advance!

slickplaid: Thank you! Got it working perfectly! I also got it functioning inside portal by daris! Great stuff. Please post when you are going to release the new fork! Can't wait!

You put both

if(!$forum_user['is_guest']) {

and the trailing

}

at the end?

Yes, the only difference between what you said and gave me, was that the lines @ 38, not 150.

Try only putting it around the javascript includes:

if(!$forum_user['is_guest']) { // this will remove the chat for users that aren't logged in

            $forum_head['prototypejs'] = '<script type="text/javascript" src="'.$ext_info['url'].'/media/js/prototype.js"></script>';
            $forum_head['ek_chatlitejs'] = '<script type="text/javascript" src="'.$ext_info['url'].'/media/js/chat.js?logged='.(($forum_user['is_guest']) ? 0 :(($forum_user['g_id'] == FORUM_ADMIN) ? 2 : 1)).'&amp;baseUri='.$base_url.'/&amp;extUri='.$ext_info['url'].'/"></script>';

}

Ok, I will give it a try later tonight. Thanks!
