Thanks.

Any idea of an ETA of a fix?

Censored words don't appear to be working.

Am I the only one with this issue with 1.4?

Okay.  I don't know how to write an extension.

Thank you though.

I have access to the SQL db directly... is it stored in a field there, or is that information generated dynamically?

It was already 'done' in version 1.3  ....   now in 1.4 the links open in the same window.   Many users have complained about this (and many other things in 1.4)

Can you point me to where this extension is?

Is there a way to make links open in a new window (target="_blank")

?

I would also be interested in hearing as this progresses.

Maybe this functionality already exists and I missed it somewhere?

... is there a way to sort all topics on my forum by post count?

I'm trying to generate a list of the most viewed and most posted-to topics for 2011.

Is there a different way other than lowering this value to 30 minutes to have the 'new posts' page work again?

I worry that if I lower the value so much as to make it useful, some people who might spend an hour composing a post might lose it by being logged out.

No -- is there a way to require additional fields on the registration page?

For instance, I would like to require a real name and website in addition to username and password.

"timeout visit value"

Is that the "Visit Timeout" value?  That value says that it is "Seconds idle before user is logged out".

My users wanted this value extremely high (I put it to like 30 days or something) so that they don't get automatically logged out daily.

Is there a different way other than lowering this value to 30 minutes to have the 'new posts' page work again?

Any thoughts or advice as to how to begin?

In the past, it automatically updated the 'last visit' --- why is it manual now?

Any luck?

Register.

View the forum (just hit the active topics link and middle-click the first 10-20 or so)

Close browser.

Wait a while for new topics - a few hours is probably plenty.

Click the 'new posts' link.  In theory, it would only show you topics that have posts that you have not already seen.

However, all the old posts you previously view that do not have new topics will still be in the list.

the nofollow tag should be there for all external links.

Nofollow ruins part of what makes the internet (particularly searching) work.

Much better to simply stop the spammers from registering or being able to post links within X number of posts.

with 1.3 I had my registration page with additional fields beyond email & email.

How can I do this in 1.4?

With 1.3 I could go to 'new posts' and the forum would remember what topics I had visited and remove them as I visited them.

This no longer happens.  The forum seems to 'forget' what I've seen every time I close my browser or go to a different system.

Is there something I can do to dig into this deeper and/or fix this?

Thanks!

I'll be sure to let you know if they still get through...

I am still getting spam registrations.  Do I need to do anything to have it check IPs?

Is there any spam registration blocking solution that works on 1.4?

You are right, I can't register with that email --- because that spammer (Shohel1) already exists on our system.

Is there a spam blocking solution that works for 1.4 for keeping out spam registrations?   Human test questions, captchas,  not allowing numbers in the email address or username, etc?

I happen to know the 'hanryjack' is by a SEO company out of India. (I contacted the person their links advertised for)

I dont' understand -- if they were 'detected' why were they allowed to register and post links on my forum?
