Definitly no. If you want it to open in a new window/tab, use shift/middle click.

See http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5249 for a discussion about it.

And it's obvious too that you serve XHTML 1.1 as text/html at your site? Please, if you don't even know what you're talking about, don't tell me that it's "so obvious" to use XHTML instead of HTML.

Oh my god, you are an idiot aren't you ? I can't serve it as application/xhtml+xml simply because IE will try to download it instead of parsing it. Oh yes, I could send a different media type depending on the browser but I'm not a big fan of the pages adapting themselves to the client.

And as you are at personnal websites, what about yours ?

What's the point of arging over this ? It doesn't make sense anymore to do HTML in 2005, get over it big_smile

The code for images in signatures has now been changed. It was never intended that images in sigs would get the scrolling mechanism like images in posts. Somehow it just managed to slip through. If you use an image in a sig you will now just get <img class="sigimage"> tags and nothing else. It also gets rid of those bloody silly scrollbars that were never meant to be there in the first place.

Thanks, I'll check it out when I'll be able to.

Hi,

I don't know if it's a bug, but if I try to put some image on the side of a link in my signature, it appears up or down of it.

For example:

[img]http://www.glop.org/gfx/bub.gif[/img][url]http://www.glop.org/[/url][img]http://www.glop.org/gfx/bob.gif[/img]

produces:
http://www.glop.org/gfx/bub.gifhttp://www.glop.org/http://www.glop.org/gfx/bob.gif

Is there a way to make the images appear on the sides of the link ?

it does stop users from being taken away from the forum accidentally by external links

im with connorhd with this, i think its good to have external links open ina new window cuz if someo ne clicks on a link and continues surfing when they close that window they will come back to the forums, where they started and dont have to back track thought the history to get back to the forum.

That's a marketer's wish. If someone wants to get back to the forum, he simply uses the back button of its browser, as it was intended.

When a link open a new window, I have an automatism: I close the old window to keep only 1 browser (with tabs) on my desktop. And I can't get back to the website which opened the link in a new window.

The only javascript that is used is to open the help file in a new window when you click on the help links for bbcode. All other links operate normally.

Thank you for that, we don't want more JS big_smile

Because it forces you to open the link in a new window.

With a normal link the way it was intended, when I click a link, the page appears in the same window, and I have *the choice* to open it in a new window, but I'm not forced to it.

Using target="_blank" is a serious pain. If I want something to open in a new window, I will most certainly shift-click or wheel-click myself. I can understand why web authors want to make the choice for me (or more exactly, for the basic user), but it's really irritating.

Can we get normal links in punBB ? Or should I keep customizing my punBB to remove those nasty "_blank"s ? big_smile

Wait for the release of PunBB 1.2. The moderators column was just about the first thing that was removed.

I noticed the announcement, just take my post as a reminder to bring it back online wink

It would be neat for small forum like mine if there was an option to remove the moderator column on the index. For example, on my homepage, I'm obviously the only moderator thus the information about moderatos isn't needed.

Take a look at what I mean : http://www.glop.org/forum/

Thanks for taking it in consideration wink
