I don't like phpbb anymore. Especially with the new look. On my text only browser it doesn't look even remotely as good as punbb. I love punbb, nice, simple, elegant, works well under everything. ^ ^

I too have FF 1.0.3 and I'm not seeing any problems, it could be your resolution though. Works fine in 1024x768...

Ok, on any resolution above that problems start occuring with the images not fitting properly.

As for the top image (the one that just says pluriservices.net), that could be because the ad banner next to it doesn't load for everyone.

That on the other hand, I don't think we can do anything about.

Hm, I know this is sort of a far-fetched idea, but I don't really know programming or anything so please bare with me. But how about a modification that adds a hidden to the eye piece of text (or something) at the end of the what you're posting in the msg box or quick reply box (that you can't select over/remove) that acts as an achor, and when you click on a bbcode or smiley at the end it sends you to that certain text (which would scroll you back to the bottom of the msg/quick reply box).

If it's not possible, then that's ok, still one of the best modifications, thanks for all of your hard work. smile

Thanks for the fix Rickard, much better than what I had done. Anyway, even though it doesn't scroll you back up to the top of the main page, it still scrolls you back up to the top of the post box/quick reply box (if it's long enough to cause it to scroll) if you click on a smiley or bbcode for me.

Downloaded the newer version (I think) but it didn't work still so I still have to use my remove href thing. Except, there is one problem I've run into, if I type a really long post (that creates the post box to scroll) if I click one of the bbcodes or smileys it sends me back to the top of the posting box. Is there something in the mod_easy_bbcode.php file I need to change for it to stay where it is or go to the bottom of the post box instead?

Or is it possible to set up an anchor (that always stays at the bottom of the post box) that it sends you to after you click the bbcode? That way it would go to the bottom instead of the top, which is much better (imo) since it wouldn't make it so you have to scroll down to finish your post.

P.S. I really need to study HTML, XHTML, DHTML, PHP, etc. tongue

Hm, ok, sorry, that does make a lot more sense. Thanks... (Rickard, you aren't suppose to make me a complete idiot lol)

Note: Ok did that, works like a charm, thanks.

One question, would it be possible to change it to allow smileys anywhere? Lets say I changed the smiley line (in the parser) to make it so you need a space before the smiley, that way if you want one it would be less likeing to have an effect before Example:(1) wouldn't do anything (since it would have to be Example :(1) for the smiley to work, and I doubt most people would put a space inbetween Example and :.

BTW I'm using Rickards Easy BBCode modification, so it would be better if someone selected a smiley in there and it would work in all cases. wink

Ah ok, thanks for the replies you 2, how it's set up makes sense now. smile

You don't need to scroll. If you are selecting multiple lines that it automatically selects to the end of each line even if you can't see it. If you are selecting one line it lets you drag so again you don't need to scroll.

If you want to select everything, double click at the beginning, hold down shift, click at the end of what you want to copy.

As for "select all" selecting the whole page, thats the way "select all" is supposed to work i.e. select all means all on the page.

Yeah, I know that's how selecting all works, I just figured that the box would have been using jscript to limit it to the box itself (not sure if that's possible though, so maybe not wink).

Anyway, ok, I'll do that from now on, thanks for the reply. smile

Again, not sure if this was posted, my apologies if it was.

Anyway, if a smiley is right after text it doesn't display the smiley, for example:
no:(
no:)
ao:(
wtf:)
wtf:(
Test:(
Test:)

It does however work if only one letter is before it:
a:)
a:(
o:)
o:(

Note: Using FireFox 1.0+
Note2: Happens to my brother as well, he's using regular FireFox 1.0 (not the + version).

ok I changed the line I said above to:

        echo "\t\t\t\t\t\t\t".'<a onclick="insert_text(\''.$smiley_text[$i].'\', \'\')"><img src="img/smilies/'.$smiley_img[$i].'" width="15" height="15" alt="'.$smiley_text[$i].'" /></a>'."\n";

and it works better now, but this isn't really a good way to do it I'm going to guess, I'll just use it for now until Rickard brings out a better fix.:P

If someone uses the
tag and the line is large, it will have the scroll bar going to the right/left, but, if you try to highlight the code inside, it won't let you scroll to the right so you can't highlight all of it unless you double click it.

Also, if you right-click inside the code box and click "Select All" It will select all in the page.

BTW I'm using Firefox. Also, if it's suppose to act this way, I can live with it. Wouldn't let something like that prevent me from using the best board out there (imo, and I've tried a lot of boards). wink

How can one change this to work correctly? On FireFox it works fine for the most part...

If you select one of the codes it works, places it where the cursor is, or around highlighted text, which is good.
However, if you select a smiley it will automatically scroll you up to the top of the page, rendering it a useless function for the "quick reply" box at the bottom of posts.

Thanks for the mod though, works perfectly for the most part smile

Edit:
I think the problem lies here:

        echo "\t\t\t\t\t\t\t".'<a href="#" onclick="insert_text(\''.$smiley_text[$i].'\', \'\')"><img src="img/smilies/'.$smiley_img[$i].'" width="15" height="15" alt="'.$smiley_text[$i].'" /></a>'."\n";

in the mod_easy_bbcode.php file. I think because it's set to a href "#" it automatically reloads the page you're currently on after adding the smily to the post, so it sets you back up at the top of the page.

I agree with analogue, since it's for specific browser code it wouldn't be a good idea to use it.

So I also vote no (even though I use Mozilla Firefox).

I just love the increased font size. I don't know what I was thinking when I made all that text 10px smile

Nice change. Actually, since it felt natural I didn't notice the increased font size until I read your post about it. wink

Thanks for giving the notice over why the site was down, Rickard. I was wondering what was up.

I was wondering if someone would make this plugin, thanks a lot, makes things a lot easier when it comes to backing up the forum. I've tested optimize tables (it said it worked, but I didn't do db checks to see if this was the case).

I've also created a backup (using gzip compression), made a post and restored via the back up to see if it works, and it does. I don't know if I should try deleting my db and trying to restore via the backup from that or if I should wait until a problem arises that I need to use it though. wink

Anyway, thanks for the plugin, very helpful. smile

I haven't gotten around to customizing the color scheme yet, and the layout is only temp for my site. At the moment I didn't wrap the forum into my site, I wrapped the site around the forum. Mainly I just mean I started with the forum and made a similar layout for the site.

Note: Site isn't anywhere near being completed, and as a side note, the site doesn't contain any illegal material, but it allows its discussion in the forum/has a gba list. If these are unacceptable to be linked to from here, then I will understand if you delete this message. However, for more information about why my site has that sort of stuff, visit the home page and read the information. My site is neutral I say! tongue

Give it a spin: http://punbb.org/download/plugins/AP_News_Generator.zip

I won't put it up for download on the website until some of you have tested it out.

Thanks for the plugin, works well. After setting everything up it makes it so changing things in my site is easilly accomplished. That and the permissions system of punbb, thanks again. Just out of curiousity if I use the news plugin do you want me to put "powered by punbb" at the bottom? Or is the copyright at the bottom of the forum itself good enough for a copyright notice?

So, lament, you're saying that you'd rather do everything based off e-mail? That defeats the purpose of PMs and they shouldn't be used at all. If you absolutely "need" an e-mail confirmation than the guy might as well not send PMs at all and just use the e-mailing script.

My point being that PM's are for on board messenging only, e-mail is not required and would just add useless coding, slowing down the PM system (just slightly). So in my opinion it's not needed. If you want e-mail use the e-mail script, if you want to PM someone use the PM function. tongue

#21 - Oh I see, yeah that would make it difficult to keep it open.

#22 - Actually I tried the Trunks build as well and does seem to be slightly faster than the regular version (1.0). Although, it's hard to tell since FireFox has always been fast for me. wink

For those who are interested. The Firefox bug is caused by images which don't have dimensions assigned to them. What happens is firefox positions surrounding content before it knows the size of the image and then fails to recalculate where to put everthing once it has got the image. The result is gaps appearing (or in some cases overlaps). Once you force Firefox to reflow the screen by changing text size etc the problem goes away.  The bug is actually in the Gecko rendering engine so it also affects Moz and Nutscrape. Mozilla have fixed it so it won't be a problem in Firefox 1.1 due for release in March. It's already be fixed in the nightly builds of Firefox.

I found this in the announcement section, another reason to use the nightly builds of firefox (until next version comes out). tongue
