I'm really, really, really happy with http://asmallorange.com
Usual support response times are ~15 minutes, the servers are very fast and being constantly upgraded (they recently had new signups closed so they could restructure - buying office space, hiring new people, etc.) and the support staff is AWESOME. There is, as Rickard mentioned, a forum. I usually also require support on a major instant messenger network. They don't officially provide it, but they'll help you anyway if you bug em enough wink

It appears they're still not accepting new hosting offers. But other people looking for similar stuff might search the forum later on, so I'm posting this anyway. smile

Don't use PWS. At all. Ever. You might as well set your computer on fire. That, or set it in the middle of a large shopping mall, turned on, with a huge sign hanging over it that says "Hack me! I'm free!"

Actually, you might as well say that about Windows 98 in general. Microsoft's official support for Windows 98 ended almost exactly a year ago. That means they're not going to make any more security patches for it... meaning your computer is now wide open. Please, do the internet a favor; upgrade to Windows 2000 and don't become a spam gateway or something.

I would run your webserver on the same port you access it from. Otherwise, cookie information and other things might be messed up.

Have you run a spyware check on your computer lately?

I'm using Firefox 1.0+ (20050107). It's much, much faster than Firefox 1.0 and Gmail doesn't crash every other time I load it. Quite nice.

It matters what you think, but as you'll come to learn, around here, people like mod ideas more than feature requests smile

Could someone post an example config.php file for me? I'm going from 1.2 Beta to 1.2 Final, and what I ended up doing was deleting all the beta files and putting in the new ones. However, in my infinite wisdom, I also deleted the config.php file. I'm afraid if I go through the install process normally, all my posts will be overwritten. So, if I had an example config.php file, I could fill in the values myself and save it.

Thanks smile

Yay! I come back to the PunBB community and two days later, a new release!

Actually, you can do this with custom BBCodes in vBulletin (I've seen a Google hack... [google]term[/google] will link to a google search) but I digress. It would be handy smile

I think he means the "Show new posts since last visit" feature for specific forums.

There isn't really a difference, however in large projects or with large companies sometimes you'll have programmers who will just write code. Some programmers that work for smaller companies or for themselves call themselves developers, because they code and do GUI (Graphical User Interface) work too.

Looks good if you could fix that CSS error wink You may want to know if you ever release this... the proper plural of "query" is "queries" wink

A CMS is more for multiple users to post news about stuff, generally in a concise format. A Blog is more geared towards one user speaking his mind, usually longer posts.

I saw that, yes, but...

This document includes installation and upgrade instructions for PunBB 1.1.4. If you are upgrading from 1.1.*, skip to section 3.

Emphasis mine. I took that to mean upgrading from OTHER versions of 1.1.x

Also note the install.html included in the ZIP file I downloaded said:

Follow these instructions to update your current 1.1.* installation to 1.1.4.

And the header says:

Installation instructions for PunBB 1.1.4

Hi,
I installed 1.1.5 per spec, and everything seems to work, except the version number still says 1.1.4. Is there something else I should have changed that was not listed in the install.html included in the zip file?
Thanks.

(added)

Hmm. Maybe the instructions should say to use 11_to_115_update.php instead of install.php
Or at least be more clear about what to use.

I've upgraded to 1.1.5, and I at least have DIFFERENT problems than what I have before. I get:

Warning: in_array(): Wrong datatype for second argument in /(path removed)/search.php on line 157

Warning: in_array(): Wrong datatype for second argument in /(path removed)/search.php on line 159

And in the actual page where I should see the search form:

Bad request. The link you followed is incorrect or outdated.

I'd use FF0.9.1, but for some reason it doesn't launch hmm So I use FF0.8
I find FF to load up much faster than IE. Pages also appear to load faster, but that's because IE doesn't show the content of pages until it's fully loaded (unlike FF.)
I have two main really annoying problems with firefox...
The one is how my router config page hates it. I have to open IE every time I need to manually redial the modem.
The other is the ultra annoying auto-complete bug. I type the and click on theregister.com, and occasionally it'll just go to "the.com"... same, sometimes, for when I hit the down arrow and enter. It's really annoying.

How right you are. There are two guys on the forum, including me.

I agree with Rickard, I don't like the strictness of vB's moderator group either. However I don't think PunBB mods should be able to edit the admin accounts...
