On my installation I have to post a thread and then click EDIT and then choose STICKY.  Maybe it's the same for you?

Hi,

I searched the forums and found a few related topics but would like some specific help, if possible.  smile

I have two seperate PunBB fourms and would like to merge them.  It seems that this needs to be manually and in my case that's not a problem.  The forum I wish to import has     Total number of registered users: 33,  Total number of topics: 37,  Total number of posts: 286.

Please could somebody explain in list form how I would go about it?  Most, if not all the users are already part of the main forum (The one it will be joined with).

I presume something like this:
Export database to be merged
create new category and forums on main board that will be merge with.
Find and replace ID references to old forums with new ones.
compare USers table and manuanlly add users not already there
optimize table.

I have little doubt I have missed some important steps.

TIA
Phillip

Hi,

I use part of my forum as a collection of news item links.  I would like to be able to perfom a search and "save" the link so that I can post it elsewhere on my site, thus saving my visitors the time and effort.  (Whilst it is not exactly hard to perform a search, we all know how much better it is if things are made as simple as possible for our users!).

I performed a search here on the forums and found one possible solution (http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5488).  Towards the end of the thread is a suggestion:
"First solution: making the keyword of the search part of the URL, thus searching for punBB in all forums would result in /forum/search/punBB, in this forum would be /forum/troubleshooting/search/punBB etc."

I tested this on my forum but it didn't work.  I was wondering whether this was connected with my Wordpress installation and the way it uses permalinks.

Does this solution work for other people?
Are there any other solutions or suggestions?

TIA
Phillip

Hi,

The site is due to go live on 1st Janaury 2006, meaning the text is still being composed.

Any comments and suggestions greatly apprecaited, especially about the forum!

Hi,

I know I'm a bit late joining this conversation but I have a suggestion.  How about some sort of competition?

Best new mod or theme (I'm still considering using this software and got sidetrack in here. Does PunBB use themes?)

Competitions often create plenty of publicity (especially if there are cash prizes!) and that may drive new traffic to the site.

The prizes can be small and run every 6 months or something.  I'm sure other users can think of some but here are a few more:

Best slogan in under ten words.
Why I use PunnBB instead of other Forum software.
Why I can't live without PunBB.
New/updated Logo design (Not that the current one is bad but sometimes it?s nice to updated it.)
New/updated banner graphics.
Best new feature suggestion.

Your turn....
