Hi.

We've been using one.com as a host and in there everything is all OK and on my personal test server I'm using
has Fedora 14 on it and if I copy everything (webfiles/db) from one.com and "install" that into my server everything
works perfectly. (chaachter wise)

Now in this 1.3.4 version we have one extreme problem at one.com since they have no more then 64M for php that
only shows when there are about 250...280 concurrent users online, both registered and visitors.
This is the error we get: (Debug turned on)

Database reported: The SELECT would examine more than MAX_JOIN_SIZE rows; check your WHERE and use SET SQL_BIG_SELECTS=1 or SET MAX_JOIN_SIZE=# if the SELECT is okay (Errno: 1104).

as I've googled for this it seems to be a memory issue in php and one.com only allows 64M
or that 1.3.4 has some "issues" tongue

The post itself will be done and then this error pops up but all things that should be done afterwards, like increasing the
users post amount etc. won't.

This is forcing us to move from one.com but then we got these Swedish character errors
(but I still think that this error will popup since that place too only has 64M for php.)

so, we got 2 issues here and I don't know what to do?
Can anyone help out?

I've been trying to search and google about this but didn't find anything.
I'm using PunBB 1.3.4

Is there a list of what access dirs/files should, or better yet, MUST have to make the forum work properly?

I got a copy from the original site to my own server (Linux) but the BBCode won't work correctly at my place.

I installed the fancy_video_tag (0.3.3) on the "real" site and found out that the graphical buttons was turned into just text.
(OK, OK, I missed the "fix for it.)

...but before I add that fix to the "real" site I wanna test it on my own, but how can I since I don't even have those buttons, not even links, on my own site.

To try get those "buttons" back I tried uninstalling the BBCode extension on my test server, I even set the access to 777 on everything, and after this last thing I did, I wanna set it back, how do I do that?
I know /cache/ need to be 777 but then what?

If anyone got a list or FAQ for this, lemme know.

and... if anyone knows this type of error of BBCode and that it NOT has anything to do with file/dir access please let me know, 'cos I'm desperate sad

OK, well with thread a meant I topic.

There is a new topic that I want to move inside another topic that are more suited for this item.
The topic I want to move is right now only one post long.

When I try that, the topic I want to move, sets the name the old topic, but that I don't want to rename,
it's a more generic name.

Did I clear that out or just mess it up more tongue

I'd kinda like a maximum time to acknowledge the account or it's removed, lets say in hours, since most spammers add the account and then wait a long time to register.
And since their email account often ain't working, they can't accept it, so the user table will be cleaned.

One funny part is, the last 5 spammers is no spammers at all, they are very well adapted into the forum and today three of
them posted spam.
Can their password been found out somehow?
We just nuked the posts but didn't do anything for the accounts.

OK, got it, thx.

I went another way on this though, instead of this I installed reCAPTCHA and so far it works.
The spammers are so far none at all, but I think we still got lots of old accounts in there that they can use.
There might be some accounts that might seem weird but at least they gotta be manually added but not so many smile

Back to my other first question;
When installing these addons how will it reference it since no other scripts are changed?

Must? Is there a problem with this version?
I thought this was the latest working, not beta thingy so I chosed that.
is 1.3.6 better? if so, why?

We're having so much spammer in there so I need this even though it ain't tested with 1.4.

I wonder though, when this is installed isn't there supposed to be a reference to this extension anywhere?
No other scripts at all have been changed so how can the system know about it?

I know it's a nutty question, but I gotta ask 'cos I'm curious tongue

If you must upgrade to PunBB 1.4, then I would recommend using the PunBB Fancy Stop Spam extension. It seems that the PunBB team is encouraging people to use their in-house developed extensions, and as far as I know, they have not provided documentation for extension developers to update their extensions to support 1.4.
