Remember to upload content of downloaded archive, not archive file itself. This means uploading "spanish" not "punbb-1.4.2-spanish.zip".

You download the language pack on your computer and then upload content of archive (not archive file) to /lang directory on your FTP server. If you don't know how to connect to FTP, search Google or contact your hosting provider.

So, you can update the version in the first post since it's still 1.4.2 wink.

Thanks for translating PunBB to your language.

Flarum is a modern, still developed PunBB.

Different extensions do different things. Are you comparing two same extensions? What are they?

That's just a name used by the author. There is no difference except that fancy_ extensions are developed by dimkalinux.

Check if everything was uploaded correctly. What FTP client do you use? If FileZilla you have listed all files which hasn't been uploaded. If that doesn't help, try to disable all extensions before update.

Make a backup, replace old files with new one and run the installer.

As we know, PunBB marks unread posts using cookies. And it was maybe fine... in 2005. Today this makes few disadvantages. The main reason - posts aren't marked properly while using various devices, like PCs, smarphones, tablets, etc.
Example: I check forums on my PC and read all unread messages, next I go to job and while traveling I use smarphone to continue reading - and posts that I read before on my other device are still marked as unread.
PunBB 1.4.3 to be more modern introduced even a responsive design. I think this proposed feature is a MUST HAVE.

Love you!

However, I encountered a bug with the responsive menu. On smarphones, tablets and PCs with smaller screen everything works fine, but on my 23-inch monitor I get something like this:

After clicking "PunBB Forums" above the menu, it backs to normal.

Firefox 38, Linux.

ElkArte is a fork of Simple Machine Forum, they have different philosophy than PunBB/FluxBB. If you like it, then use it smile.

FluxBB will be a part of Flarum - another forum software.

This extension doesn't work properly? Try KeyCAPTCHA.com

Who said that? It's not true that after reaching this ammount of posts/members any error will occur. PunBB will work like it worked before.

There is no complete list of hooks. You must go to the searched part of board and look to it manually, eg index.php.

How difficult is it to make up extensions and where would someone begin.

Difficult? You must be a PHP programmer. That's everything.

If you will learn this language everything should be easy. Here you have some docs (PHP knowledge required):
