Looks like you still have to chmod it then! wink

I'm glad you brought up "Swenglish". ....

big_smile big_smile

This reminds me of my English professor of the previous two years. All conversations during those classes were in English only (I'm from Belgium, Flanders to be more precise, so we speak Dutch) and whenever someone said just a single word in Dutch, she said she did not understand Swahili. lol smile
I'd like to hear some Swenglish IRL btw smile

Back on topic then... in Dutch the expression "I'm afraid..." also exists: "Ik ben bang dat...", and in French too: "J'ai peur que...". So it really isn't just English!

And there's a great yet simple sitemap for PunBB tool to improve things again, if needed be.

Yes indeed... the simplest sitemap plugin you could possibly imagine. Just upload sitemap.php to your forum directory and that's it smile Simple, yet great plugin! (And it works too...)

Very great news smile

There is definitely a certain amount of resemblance to what I've chosen to do with my project. It also became too much to do on my own.
But the difference is that your project just works. Once a problem is solved, it's solved. With mine you had to keep the drivers up-to-date and then sometimes new problems would come up. And some problems just could not be resolved, no dirty work-arounds possible. That's very frustrating and demotivating. I've learned a lot through it though.

Anyways, my point is, I'm glad too see this Very Good Project evolving into An Even Better Project smile Good luck to everybody on the Development Team! wink

The front page looks great. smile

Indeed.

I've seen you're a news poster there, hsl. Any chance you know who did the design?

Looks good, though you can not derive much from that very simplistic example at the homepage...

Any chance the download will be online again soon?

VERY INTERESTING

I will check this out right away... smile

I guess I'll wait some more then.

@Rickard: I've sent you a nice donation, have a nice drink from it or whatever you'd like to do with it wink smile See it as a token of my respect for your efforts! wink

LOL Feeling noobish now tongue See the irony!

I didn't know that the SVN repo allowed anonymous logins, hence why... I thought 1.3 was at least approaching the beta stages, since it has been development for more than a year. Since you say it's still in the alpha stage, I suppose that it's still a long road? Anything I can do to speed it up, besides testing (pointless) and donating (will do tomorrow)? The thing is that I was really impressed by the sneak preview Rickard posted... and it seemed bugfree to me (although that was of course not the most complex plugin possible).

There is no beta testing tongue

Didn't search yet, but now you say it, I should have crossed that while I was searching for more info about PunBB 1.3...

Wouldn't that significantly speed up the testing, and therefore the final release? I understand that one must exclude the n00bies, because that would create more work than would be saved. But you say NO ONE is allowed (officially, since any one can copy the file contents of the SVN repo one by one) to  perform testing on the latest versions?

I guess I'll run a punbb 1.3 with an imported database on a local server soon, to speed up the beta testing... I'd really like to use PunBB 1.3 final in a month or two...

A donation is coming as well wink smile

Frank H wrote:

yep, that will be fixed aswell in the mod for punbb 1.3 wink

ARGGGGHHH

I really need PunBB 1.3 big_smile tongue

Of course, not a problem wink I won't change your system either, as it allows every setting to be set in as much detail as you could wish. I will just allow the user to set permissions for a whole range of forums simultaneously...

And searching for that post by Dexus now...

EDIT: the first pot I found of Dexus was some sort of fix. But then I noticed that your mod adds an additional query for EACH post in a topic. That's too much for me... So I'll skip this mod after all!

And... I really want punBB 1.3! tongue It will making mods so much easier...

I'd like to thank you very much for this mod. Although I must say that I don't like how you've set it up: you must add permissions for EVERY user group AND for EVERY forum... That's quite alot in my case: more than 100 permissions to set.... A nogo, that is. I noticed this only AFTER I had installed it, so can't write it myself quickly...

That's a disappointment. I suppose you won't mind if I'd submit here the code to add the ability to set global permissions and THEN add exceptions? It won't be for today anyway...

This is the current state of the rewrite support, but it isn't set in stone. We might very well add, for example, the topic subject to the URL. The idea behind the rewrite support is that it should be easy to extend with your own scheme. This isn't quite true just yet, but it will be.

Then what will happen when a topic's title is changed and the old URI is being used from somewhere else? This is a good thing for news websites, blogs and so on, but not for a forum IMHO.

Perhaps it's wiser to offer two options:
1. disable topic's title in URI and enable renaming of topics
2. enable topic's title in URI and disable renaming of topics

Or perhaps an intermediar option: add topic's title in URI and the topic ID, but ignore it inside punBB. That would simplify the identification of topics and not break the entire system once you've changed a topic's title. Or perhaps this is the way you were planning to do it tongue. In that case, just ignore this post smile wink

I started Saturday 27th of May 2006 (that's right, 4 days ago) and I've got right now 87 members, 44 topics and 273 posts. Not bad smile

My forum is right here.

P.S.: my old forums were hosted at MSFN.org and there I had more than 1000 topics and 10,000 posts. So... that's why it's been growing so quickly, it's been moved to my own hosting (so I can structure everything better...).

I'm very impressed by the ease of use of the CURRENT PunBB release (1.2.12). But I missed several features, so I started looking for some kind of a roadmap - which does not exist, unfortunately.

Then I started searching and I stumbled upon this. That teaser in the first post is truly phenomenal. I can't wait to get my hands on the final release. I'd love to join the beta testing, but the problem is that my exams are coming up (June 8th), so I won't be able to do that. I really hope that PunBB 1.3 will be out by then, though I don't want to put any pressure on the developers: Just take your time wink.

Thank you!
