Since Kryptix mentionned it, why isnt it implemented forums.punbb.org?

Browsing through the posts with the mark as read mod is so much more enjoyable.. and it would probably decrease the amount of questions you guys get from a new user... like, say.. me.

Talk to your host, that should be something they provide

You're right.
The guy from my webhosting company just emailed me..

Turns out I had the "local mail" feature on my domain all along.. I just had to leave the forum's SMTP server adress field empty..

sry..

smile

In the Terms and Conditions section of the service I falsely assumed that the notice "Clients must use the SMTP server provided by their ISP for email configuration." was referring that this lack of feature and was responsible for the auto-email malfunction.

Anyway.. s'all good now

Thanks!

Chmod the cache folder to 777.

Ok I changed the folder's properties to give Read/Write/Execute permissions to all users in this directory + I had to do the same with all the files' properties in the cache folder. It's fixed. Thanks smile

For the mail: most SMTP hosts (being your ISP's most likely) disallow connections from outside IP adresses. That's why it worked locally but not on your webhosting.
Find a free SMTP service or webhosting with decent mail() support wink

Thanks for the input smile
I've looked around and found a few SMTP service but no one will allow me to send email with my domain address, i.e if I subscribe to bluebottle.com the forum registration email has to be from myname@bluebottle.com... I'm looking for a service ($) that would allow the email to be sent from myname@mynewdomain.com.. and consequently would work for the users who send emails via the forum's email form. Is this possible or do I have to switch my webhosting provider?

Thanks, as I said I worked locally but I just uploaded it on my new domain and spent the last 2 hours on it.

Turns out that once it's online I've got a 550 Relaying denied error when attempting to send form email or receiving registration notification (+ it seems that PHP can't write to cache but that's another thing..). But Im totally new to this.. so chances are I forgot to do/add some very basic stuff to my forum.

Sending the files wouldn't help would it? I could reupload it again but since PHP can't write to cache I can't do any modifications and experiments.

I guess I've got a littlbe bit more reading to do in order for it to be functionnal.

I'd see them in my junkmail inbox, and I dont.. My 4 email providers all received a registration email but none of them are receiving form emails... (??)

I hate to create new topics and this one seems to be the most appropriate to post this problem I get. I did search for an answer to this prior to posting it.

I'm in the process of testing my forum..
Whenever I send a form email it says that the message is sent but the message is never sent.
But whenever I register with a new email adress (or request a new password) I DO receive an email from the forum with my generated passwd and login ID.

I only entered the SMTP info in the SMTP server address field.. I didn't edit any truecode related to emails (as long as some mods didn't affect some code that could create this problem.. (PM mod, Mk as read, Custom Pages))
I'm testing the forums locally.

Any ideas?

But register.php says that some of the language definitions are also used in post.php. So once the registration is done and the language selected the users would still see some (unnecessary) translated text in post.php right?

How about being able to select the language without being registered? A dropdown that would allow the user to select the language prior to the registration? (it's probably impossible... otherwise it would have been already done right? ; ) )

Thanks, I guess I can manage something out with that first option but if any other ideas pop up let me know!

I'm also looking for some kind of modification that would allow users to Agree / Accepter or Cancel / Canceller to the forum rules and be taken (if applicable) to the desired language registration page.

Either that or a single registration page with both language in it, as long as it would be clear for the users..

Any idea? Or maybe another tip that would do the trick?

Thanks!

sorry to bump this thread.. I'm bumping it for troubleshooting and researches purposes only as it deal with the deletion of multiple messages.

Although this tip won't fix said ^^ problem, people who are implementing the Private Messaging mod could take a look at this post if they're unable to delete multiple messages. It deals with the <? as opposed to <?php tags in some php files

Thanks Smartys smile

said modifs ^^ were made in
header_new_messages.php
viewtopic_PM-link.php

and
functions_navlinks.php

I also had a;

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in C:\wamp\www\Forums\plugins\AP_Private_messaging.php on line 150

which was resolved by using the same tip in
AP_Private_messaging.php

And finally this tip also resolved an issue I had when deleting multiple private messages (Error: Unable to delete messages..) on line 352 (for me) of the file message_list.php

Hi! I'm totally new to Punbb and I'm having a hard time implementing this particular mod.. I carefully followed the instructions in the readme.txt file but I keep on getting this bug as soon as I login in my forum. screenshot

I installed wamp 1.6.1, did a fresh install of punbb-1.2.13.zip as well as Private_Message_Mod-1.2.2.zip, and my stats board show
PunBB version

There are no mods previously installed on this forum and I'm really wondering what went wrong, I did a fresh installation 3 times and keep getting this bug. Chances are I forgot something really obvious but as I said, I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions correctly.

Based on that screenshot ^^, does anyone knows what I'm doing wrong here?
Thanks!
