Re: letting topics "sink"

I really do like Vanilla (The forum software from Lussumo). There are a lot of cool things that PunBB could use from Vanilla.

Both PunBB and Vanilla are stream-lined forum system, but they take different approaches. If they were to have a "baby," it would be the best software ever made... Ever.

Re: letting topics "sink"

That does sound like a great feature, though IMHO it would be better suited as a mod rather than part of core PunBB. There are too many people who would not use it to justify it being default.

Vanilla looks pretty cool to me, but I find that it's pretty slow.  I'm not sure if it's indicative of the true performance of Vanilla, but all the instances I've seen take ages to jump from page to page...

But would anybody use a forum called Vanunbb or Punilla.

Re: letting topics "sink"

I have a vanilla beta installation. It's slow, and while people got excited about how new and fancy it was at first... the main idea that the individual threads are more important than being given an over all view seems novel, but is flawed. Ordinary folks don't get it, and never seem to catch on.

I'm happy with punbb, but agree that allowing topics to sink is a fantastic idea!
