Topic: PunBB video tutorials... i need suggestions please.

i've had the idea of producing video tutorials for the basics of PunBB. my biggest drawback is what to record. i'm going to do the very basics like installing, updating, style/plugin installation, etc. i'd like some suggestions of things to record. please keep them simple and only a max of 2 minutes worth of recording. also keep in mind the target audiance. if they need to watch these videos then they aren't the type of admin who is going to be installing a mod that requires 10 different source file hacks. K.I.S.S. please. wink

install forum - done
install plugins - done
install styles - done
stick thread - done
close thread - done
delete thread - done
enable debug - done
add menu items - done
subscribe - done

update: i have screen caps of all the steps i want to include in the first 3 tutorials. i'll need to organize them and present them in a use full manner before going live. stay tuned.

I've seen many users having problems finding out how to lock, stick and delete topics. In short: some basic moderation tutorial would be very useful to the community.

get camtasia studio to make the tutorials... that what i use to make photoshop tutorials....

1) How to enable debug mode.
2) How to add extra menu links in the admin panel.

i was playing with my camtasia studio and recorded how to install punbb on a webserver or localhost.
it will be ready soon for people to view...

make it a two part one then? make sure to put links to each part in each post big_smile

other than that quaker, i dont think that people know how your computer is setup with the local host.  so if its someone thats going to watch this vid, they are likly going to be oblivious whats going on. great video tho, i thought it was great cause i knew what was going on, but i think mabe actually showing how it works with the actuall server might be better, logging into cpanel and adding a database etc.  other than that everything is rock solid, really neat (tho i do belive people should setup there own system for testing, i think it just confuses people).

that true.. about the cpanel.. bu ti dont feel like doing alot of editing to the video to block the url username apassword... etc.

mabe something about main.tpl and how it works.

annother one would be for theme's - editing css files for the styles.

mabe this is to much, but it can be made simple just to show people what its all about.

add them to google video or youtube
so people can view them...
and post the bbcode they give you in each forum.. for there topic.
