Topic: white space test

Here's the real question. How does punbb deal with white space?

tabbed columns:

    1    2    3
    one    two    three

multiple spacing:

word  two spaces
word   three spaces
word    four spaces

indenting:

   line indented with three spaces

Well, that's better than phpbb. At least something more than a single space shows for each of those. However, the replacement of the tab character with three spaces doesn't cut it. I need users to be able to copy and paste from the site into a text editor or terminal emulator and come up the exact characters originally posted.

Still, this is close. And I'm tempted to just install it and find where this replacement script is:

\t  --->

and change it to:

\t  --->  <pre style='display:inline'>    </pre>

(note: the character between the pre tags is a tab, not 3 spaces. the very problem i'm trying to point out a fix for is hindering my ability to do so. i also tried it in a code tag, but it just came out as 4 spaces instead.)
