Re: POLLs

Do you think we should do what the phpBB community does and not help those who remove the PunBB link on their forums ?

Re: POLLs

good idea, but then half of the people that come here will all go again

Re: POLLs

Bad idea. One user who removes the link back might recommend PunBB to 100 other people all of whom display it. Much better to have a reputation for being friendly and helpful rather than stroppy.

Re: POLLs

Doesn't mean we can't suggest it when we respond though smile

Re: POLLs

I have to agree with Paul, the friendlier our community is the better.

It's nice to have link backs and all but it's better for people to experience PunBB. Any forum using PunBB will eventually be asked by a user what software is being run, then that thread is read by all attendees.

Heck I've seen sites that I can't tell what CMS or Blog they are using but eventually find a credits page or a post stating why they switched to it.

Re: POLLs

Hmm.

I just find it crazy that people remove any mention of PunBB and then come on here for help. I can understand them removing Rickard's name, and that probably leads to the removal of the link.

You could add a meta tag like WordPress does:

<meta name="generator" content="PunBB 1.2.10" />

EasyPoll : http://www.punres.org/files.php?pid=60

That would be a good idea, view source and you know the app.

Re: POLLs

Easypoll doesn't work with PunBB 1.2.10. I get the following message when attempting to install:

You are running a version of PunBB (1.2.10) that this mod does not support. This mod supports PunBB versions: 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5, 1.2.6

I guess it's simply a version check and the mod authors need to upgrade it. I'd help if I could, but sadly I'm not a programmer. Any idea when this problem might be corrected?

Re: POLLs

in install_mod.php line 12, add 1.2.10 to the array.

Mark, great, so simple, and it worked for me first time. Thanks for your help. This is a great plugin.
