Topic: How secure is PunBB?
How often is this project updated and how secure is the current release?
Has anybody had their board hacked or exploited recently or does it all look pretty secure right now?

punbb is secure. I have had no probelms with it securitys wize, the only cases i have heard of is people gaing access via there admin password, which you will have on ANYTHING, if you have an easy pass.

There are currently no security exploits known, and if one were to pop up, it'd be fixed within the day.

Just have a look at http://secunia.com/product/3700 to see Punbb's security history, which is pretty good, you will note.
However while the core punbb code may be pretty secure, as soon as you start applying any 3rd party mods and patches, security may start to suffer, depending on how those mods etc are coded. It usually pays to have a good look at their code before you add any of them to your board.

Yes of course, I realise how mods will create issues. But then, I have no desire to extend the core features. I'm looking for a clean, simplistic and secure system to replace a bloated IPB.
