Topic: Blank on the top of the page

on your punbb official forum,there is only so little space blank on the top between the IE address bar and webpage as below i snaped:

but on my forum there is a large space (blank) on top - below snaped:

but when i view admin_index , there gone well:

sometime ago when i just open login.php ,there will be so large space,but inde or viewforum,viewtopic.php don't have this blank,but now every page on my forum got this large blank.

i'd really don't know why this happened.i'had reupload the css files but still cannot work well.
any dude known that?

compare /include/template/main.tpl and /include/template/admin.tpl, there must be omething you modified in main.tpl that you did not change in admin.tpl

there must be a difference between main.tpl and admin.tpl otherwise you should have the same result on both pages

thanks,! there is really some difference, i put meta description to the top so that ok.
solved.there really have difference.then there isn't blank on my forum and topic page but now have blank on the "profile" and "edit.php" and "post.php" "misc.php?action=rules" "register.php" page.

when i open " profile.php" and "edit.php" ," post.php" "misc.php?action=rules" " register.php"
there is the blank on the top again. i just don't know change what then.

When viewing source in IE on one of the affected pages, I see this:

[character]?<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

where [character] is some character, I can't tell what it is, it just looks like a box. Try removing that character.

Probably the file is being saved with an UTF-8 text editor.

there is no [character] on my IE source.
and yes,every file i saved it with UTF-8.
how can i do with that.
Besides: the problem of blank on the top, does not happened in FIrefox and opera.

when installing Spam_words , i added some codes in edit.php post.php; but the profile and misc.php i'd never touched.

The misc.php?action=rules page. As Smarty's said, you have something before the doctype declaration.

I can see an odd character there as well, it appears to be a dot. That of course would result in a space with a height the equivelant of one line of text.

If I view the page with Firefox or Opera and change the character encoding from UTF8 to anything else then I get the same thing i.e. space caused by a garbage character or characters before the doctype.

Check main.tpl. Do you have a space before the doctype. Trying uploading a clean copy of main.tpl.

i'm ever uploaded a new main.tpl,nothing changed with my problem..

another,
i just opened the affected pages,like "post.php" "misc.php",just view it's sourcecode, .the focus of input splink is at the beginning on " <!DOC " , i'd just wanna check if there is a blank,then i key "delete",but there is nothing deleted,then i key another "delete" key, it's changed to " !DOC ",that means there really have space at the beginning of the affected pages,but i just don't know where to modify this space. it's not main.tpl,I'm sure.

i found a file , "install.php" some part of it have this code

der for PunBB to be installed.');

there i found a space before " <!DOCTYPE "

should i edit the Mysql data? how to found this space
