I just installed everything as said and what I get is a blank page.

open the config.php and remove all the blank spaces at the top...
line one should start with the php command

There are no blank spaces before
<?php
So I have no idea what it might be.

It looks like you didn't save it as a plain text file, but instead as a rich text file or in some special encoding. Just use Notepad (if you're in Windows)
