Topic: Wish list

I want to premise it's not a "at all costs list" tongue It's more a "it should be considered a core feature, an official extension or an user extensions?"


1) Cookie: choose if it's permanent at login (enabled by default), not in your account settings.

2) Display: a setting for choosing number of post and thread per page (I don't know why forums make two distinct settings...)

3) Search: search in all forums of one category

4) Search: search in a single thread

5) Identity: sex and birthday date

6) Identity: separate page for IM profiles. Link of that page next to "email" link in viewtopic.php. Modular IM fields.

Small wishes/changes

1) Profile > About: Add the "Show all subscriptions" and a "Remove all subscriptions" link to the user's profile

2) Profile > About: Add the "Last visit: $date" (index.php) to the user's profile

3) Profile > Identity: Add a skype, hobby and/or job field to the user's profile

4) Profile > Identity: Increase the "Admin note:" field to a textarea

5) Profile > Identity: Rename the "MSN-Messenger" field to Live-Messenger

6) Main Forum: Display the subject of the last post on index.php (it's only a LEFT JOIN more wink)

7) Main Navigation: Rename "User list" to "Members"?

More useful wishes/changes

1) BBCode: Add a [size+/-X] ([size+2]big text[/size]) and [list=*]

  • 2nd entry

  • ...

) bbcode

2) Moderation: Rename the "Delete posts" to "Moderate posts" on viewtopic.php and add a "Move posts" feature on moderate.php?fid=X&tid=Y

-> Ask for the destination thread ID

---> Allows to merge threads (except the first post?) and move posts smile

3) Post: What's about attachments? It would be very useful.

Does not work (build 1400)

1) BBCode: There are no underlines when using the [u]-bbcode.

2) BBCode: The TEXT-bbcode doesn't work. I would suggest the [url]-syntax ([img=http://...]TEXT[/img]).

It is already discussed, it will not be implemented

In Profile, if the user has no posts, then don't display the "Show all posts" and "Show all topics" links.

These types of topics, however, are much better off when split up logically. Having one topic for requests that affect varying parts of the software (especially when you say in advance that some of the requests make more sense as extensions) can cause people to not respond because they don't feel like responding to a part of it. Also, they tend to reflect the wishes/preferences of the poster rather than things that necessarily need changing. It's easy for good ideas to be lost in them. wink

Now then, the original ideas:
1. Yeah, I think we need to take a look at that
2-6: extension

Second post:
1. Remove all is an extension, I don't see why seeing the subscriptions from the profile is necessary (so extension as well)
2. Maybe for admins/mods

5. As people said, I think MSN is the more well known term. I happen not to use it though, so I'm not in much of a position to judge.

1. size would be an extension, list is (I think) still planned for the new parser.

"want" is not the right verb... wink Anyway, there's a PM extension for 1.2.x, it can be adapted to 1.3
EDIT: I just read PM extension will be an official one:

its best if the orginal creators of the mod move it over, becuase they know how and what to do.... and I woudlt go porting all the mods over yet.... 1.3 isnt stable yet and the final version will be allot diffrent, coding wise...

I personally would like to have PM and Poll by default, since communities use them. Rest can be extensions.

I wouldnt!!! somesites i woudnt want a poll and PM sites on by standard! then some i would, Punbb is simple... that is what is good about it .
