Topic: charset problems

Hi

I'm using PunBB 1.3.2 and have a problem with charset. I'm translating the forum to Estonian.

At first I used utf-8 and everything seemed fine, but then I found out that some Estonian letters are not shown in the content part of the forum. The same letters are shown correctly in header and footer.

Then I changed the charset in header.php to iso-8859-1. Looked at the forum and the letters in content part were shown correctly. I thought that the problem was solved, but then I noticed that now the letters that were shown correctly at first in header and footer were now incorrect.

I'm not very familiar with charsets, but I now that other pages that I have made in Estonian are using utf-8 and there are no problems.

Does anybody have some ideas how to fix the problem?

Maybe the language files have to be UTF-8 encoded... I don't know neutral

How should I encode the language files? I have tried different ways but nothing helps.

Has anybody some more ideas?

Download and install Notepad++ then go to Format > Encode in UTF-8 (once you have opened your file).
