Topic: [release] Simple Image Upload

This is a very simple alternative to attachment mod. It works only with images and allows users to quickly add images to posts. All images are stored on third party image hosting service and bbcode for images is automatically inserted in posts when users upload images. Thumbnails are automatically created on image hosting server. This mod is very easy to install and very easy to use.

Just what I was looking for! A BIG thank you! smile

Re: [release] Simple Image Upload

While this mod works great, perhaps a word of caution ... the hosting arrangements for postimage involve a host  supposedly based in the Dominican Republic with Russian connections, & its whois details seem bogus.

Sites like McAffee's SiteAdvisor however reports no issues however: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/postimage.org

Maybe I'm being too suspicious.

Re: [release] Simple Image Upload

@sirena: don't know where you are getting dominican russian stuff !?

a very well known site. see alexa etc

Re: [release] Simple Image Upload

@Sirena - I don't see anything that warrants being worried.  Even if there are ties to the Dominican Republic or Russia, what would that matter?  This is just for image hosting, not hosting personal documents or information.

I'd like to say 'learn some Internet', but I'm too nice to say something like that. smile

Break down the segments of its DNS records, whois all the results, look at who owns the netblocks (some are in RIPE, some are under ARIN), then do a Google search or two. Etc.

And while I have no opinion either way on it, I can think of lots of reasons why a service like this (just like most image hosts) could be potentially useful to bad guys.

It's all ultimately a matter of trust and experience, I guess.

what strikes me is there are no image ads and I wonder how the bandwidth is funded or is stolen bandwidth? and what if all my uploaded images are swapped for porn suddenly one day?

Re: [release] Simple Image Upload

It's non profit. This site has no ads either. Is that a reason to distrust?! I trust Facebook and Google less, a lot less to be honest!

And if they want privacy and use servers all over the world, up to them no?

Hi, it doesn't work. It gives this error when I try to attach img to answer. When I use quick answer it returns my forum's page.  No any img link at all.

I'm using PunBB at Forex Forum since 2006.

Re: [release] Simple Image Upload

Hello!

Can I delete text "Click here to see full size image" from result thumbnail?

Thanks.

This extension does not work when you're using Fancy URL's. Can this be fixed?

Fixed on the server side. Try again

Re: [release] Simple Image Upload

it would be fun if this extension could be combined/moderated so that all uploaded images can be seen on a page. Like a dynamic gallery. Most recently uploaded photos would be displayed first. Good idea? Possible?

I replace it text with information about image. You can see example here: http://www.postimage.org/mod.php

Re: [release] Simple Image Upload

Now it is much better. The small images are shown in full size. Well done.
