How to transfer punbb forum to new host

I'm fresh out of solutions here.  I recently transferred my working website with working punbb forum (and database) to a new host.  Now everything works just fine with the exception of the forum.  Now when I try to log in, I get the following message:

An error was encountered
Error: Unable to connect to MySQL server. MySQL reported: Access denied for user 'admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES).

I have tried changing the script in MySQL but that doesn't do anything.  And when I check out MySQL, I get this message:

There seems to be an error in your SQL query. The MySQL server error output below, if there is any, may also help you in diagnosing the problem

I even tried to locate someone with forum transfer and or punBB expertise, but I've reached a dead end.  Can anyone help or at least point me in the right direction?
