Re: pun_approval

Pun_approval 1.1.0  for PunBB 1.3 has been released. Its description can be found
here.

New features in comparison with the previous version:
Registration approval added. Now you can approve all new users registering on your forum.

Feel free to make suggestions and report  bugs.

Re: pun_approval

Very cool.
Just few things;

1. When a user registers he doesn't receive any notification that his request to join the board is being processed. Maybe it would be good to have him redirected to a page/notice that informs him of the verification process.

2. I as admin don't know which country/IP/ISP the user is signing on from. It would be useful to have that info next to registration date in 'unapproved posts' I believe.

3. I was wondering whether the activation of extension wouldn't be better under 'registration' tab in admin area instead of bottom of features?

Just some ideas. big_smile

KeyDog thank you for the feedback!
Your ideas are really good. We are going to use them. Improved version of the extension will be released next week.

Re: pun_approval

Question: Does this plugin work with user groups? That is, can it be used so as to moderate the approval of posts by new members only?

There is an option in group settings (when editing properties of a group) which allows you to use post approval for this certain group. So if there is a group  on your forum for new members only, you can moderate posts of users from this group, but all other groups of users will post without approval.

Re: pun_approval

very nice extension. Only one request: Is there a way where the linked "Show unapproved posts" text will not show if there is nothing to approve?

Re: pun_approval

Pun_approval 1.2.0 has been released!
New features:

  • An e-mail message is sent to new registered user informing him about confirmation or rejection of his registration

  • Links in forum header appear only when there are new posts or registrations waiting for approval. If there is nothing to approve they become invisible

  • Information about new user's IP address added to the table with registrations waiting for approval

We will appreciate your feedback, new ideas and feature requests.

Re: pun_approval

Can you make it so Moderator's can approve or disapprove posts?

Re: pun_approval

Also, I keep having a lot of posts just sort of "hang."

When I click them, it takes me to a screen that says "No unapproved posts since your last visit."

I can't seem to find a way to get rid of them other than uninstalling and reinstalling the extension.

What is the difference between the top two?

Re: pun_approval

Excellent. Just in case anyone wants to change/customize the email approval notice or rejection notice:
It's easily found in \pun_approval\lang\English\mail_templates       reg_approved.tpl or reg_rejected.tpl
for example in approved.tpll it says :
<username>!
Forum administrator has approved your registration request. Thank you for registering in the forums at <base_url>.

better might be
Hello <username>
The forum administrator has approved your registration request.
Thank you for registering in the forums at:
<base_url>.

But that's up to each board admin of course big_smile

The difference is that the first option allows users from the certain group to post without approval and the second option allows users to approve posts of others. That's what was supposed to be the solution to your problem - allow moderators to approve posts of others. But I think there is a bug there. Because when I tried to allow moderators to approve new posts, the link in forum header didn't appear. We'll fix it as soon as possible. And we'll also try to figure out why  topics stay unapproved when there are no posts to approve in them.

Can you describe in more details how you get this error? Because when I try, everything works fine.

Yeah, same on my end.

As far as how to recreate the "hanging" unapproved topics, I'm not really sure.  Here's a screen shot of what's on my screen.

I can't figure out a way to get rid of them other than uninstall and reinstall the extension.  Which works, but is probably not ideal.

Re: pun_approval

Pun_approval 1.2.1 is now available!
Fixed bugs:

  • Moderators can approve posts and registrations if forum administrator allows them.

  • There were problems with hyperlinks in forum header. They were not shown properly.

  • A bug with bread crumbs was fixed.

Post and registration approval can be allowed to moderators only. All other groups can be allowed to post without approval.

krackato, we were not able to  reproduce the bug with "hanging" topics. Check if you are using the latest version of the extension. If this problem continues to happen, describe all the actions which lead to it, step by step. Thank you.

Re: pun_approval

I think it's a great extension. Now I can experiment with allowing guests to post (with approval enabled, so I keep control) - people who don't like registering will surely be more likely to post. So that's good.

Thanks.

Re: pun_approval

I just uninstalled 1.2.0 and installed 1.2.1.  I am still getting hanging topics.

Re: pun_approval

If I click the above link (why can you not edit posts on this forum?) I get this:

I've seen this happen on a board of mine now aswell. 5 topics were added by admin, and they appear in post approval.

When I click on one of them I get the same message as krackato....

Argh, I am so bad at this forum.  The above has started to occur.  I'm having to uninstall 1.2.1.

I hope this actually helps.

Re: pun_approval

Thank you for bug reports! We finally found the bug with hanging topics and are trying to fix it right now.
But, krackato, how did you get the last one?

Please describe the actions after which you got that screen.
Thanks in advance.

Re: pun_approval

krackato,
We found the reason of the last bug. We are fixing it.
