I had a little trouble before pasting the url link from maps.co.uk - does it make a difference if it's http://maps.google.co.uk/ in the link (looking at the manifest I guess could well be?)

Edit: If I delete the
http://maps.google.com/maps? from the google generated link and paste it into map tag it works as I want... not showing the left hand side of google maps page and header part of google website....
Can you maybe give exact code you pasted to get screenshot result?

But there should be a good way to do this via the extension...
I saw the Extended BBCode extension has all the images in the extension folder plus the new ones... and then adds code in manifest.xml to choose that folder...
