Topic: not allowed to connect to the MySQL

okay my forum was set up a while back at
http://cob.montevallo.edu/leslieem/punbb/index.php

but if i try to go through the link i set up for it on the website
cob.montevallo.edu/leslieEM
i get this message
The file 'config.php' doesn't exist or is corrupt. Please run install.php to install PunBB first.

the file is there....

but when i try to install i get this message
Error: Unable to connect to MySQL server. Host 'farside.cob.montevallo.edu' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server.

one way it works, but i cant login, and the other way it doesnt work at all, i need to reinstall cuz i forgot to change my password and write it down

I don't get it. You have one forum in Well, it's in http://cob.montevallo.edu/leslieem/punbb/index.php and one in http://cob.montevallo.edu/punbb/index.php?

me and another guy that problem fixed....i was missing the /leslie/ in the link

but me being the great moderator i am had forgotten my pw not long ago, got it retrieved and then forgot to change it from the random PW thats sent, i deleted the e-mail and purged cookies and cant login.  when i try to retrieve my pw i get this message

Warning: mail(): SMTP server response: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for eleslie@umail.montevallo.edu in D:\Student\LeslieEM\punbb\include\email.php on line 79

so right now the forum works, but i cant login now and cant get a new PW

Do you have access to the database via a database administration system? I.e. phpmyadmin? In that case you can look up your user in the users table and set the password to

d969831eb8a99cff8c02e681f43289e5d3d69664

You can then login with the password "temp" (without the quotes).

The reason you can't request a new password is because there is something wrong with your SMTP server setup. What is wrong with it and how to solve it is unfortunately out of PunBB's reach. You'll have to ask your server admin about that.
