This occured to me. Shouldnt the next new version of punbb be Version 2.0 instead of 1.2? 1.2 makes it seem like its refined code of version 1, when in reality, its a almost being completly rewritten. 1.* means that its a refinement to version 1, or the first major release. The next version seems to be a major release, so therefore, it should be called version 2.

hmm. Yes, that does make sense, but basically just a large number of features are being added; in previous versions eg. 1.1, a lot of features have been added, but it didn't merit going to 2.0.
Perhaps at 2.0 Rickard would want to do a full rewrite like phpBB?
2.0 would be a complete rewrite and 1.2 just won't be that. It will add major new functionality though, just like 1.1 did.
Oh well, I guess that works as well.
