Hello,
I installed Drupal 7.21 http://drupal.pihel.jino.ru and punbb 1.4.2 http://drupal.pihel.jino.ru/punbb/
Everything is working fine: register, login, logout
I think the problem is unsuppressed error, it does not set a module cookies.
Turn off the display of errors on your machine php.ini

I've found an modification for Drupal 5 and PunBB 1.2, you can download it here.. You have to open the file called punbb.info and add the line "core="6.x"" to make it work with Drupal 6.
