is this project still alive? there is no updates for a long time...i don't know is it good or not.

It's alive for various extensions, there are new ones, and maintained ones, but we don't know when there will be a new version of PunBB, i hope soon.

When all hosts will go to PHP 7, then it will be just necessary. Or owners of their forums will have to switch to other CMS.

But PunBB 1.4.4 works fine with php 7, we just have to change one line and it's ok :

And many extensions work fine too with php 7.
