Topic: Sub Forums

I've got a lot of forums.. and it's taking way too much screen real estate.

Not knocking punBB, but I was looking at http://www.christianforums.com/ which uses vBulletin, and the subforums concept they've implement looks ok, and doesn't clutter up the screen... (well the all the other sidebar junk does, but i'm just talking about the forums bit)

Do you think punbb could one day include sub-forum functionality?  Pretty please? big_smile

No, I don't think so.

Can't you remove some forums instead? Are all active? Maybe merge some forums into one?

FYI on the about page of this site it gives a list things he wont put int the forums and one of them is subforums.

Haha, so it is!  Although he didn't say "won't"... just not in the near future.

It's quite interesting, almost all of the stuff mentioned there are available as mods big_smile

- private messaging: yup
- file attachments in posts: done
- definable user groups: check and check
- polls: right here
- post preview: yes
- linking to off-site avatars: hm.. not sure about this one
- advanced text formatting controls: take your pick
- subforums: sadly, not yet

I still agree with Rickard's vision and strategy for punBB -- I guess sometimes you just need something tailored towards what you're trying to achieve with your site... and I guess that's where mods come in. big_smile

OMG check out the list for 1.2, its got post preview. hehe when he gets that up hes gota update the about page LOL, i wouder how old the abou page realy is, hehe and i think theres something about user groups too
