Topic: Install.php

Just a quick question, when the forum is up and running, do I need to delete this file. Is there anyway that someone could mess up the forum if you dont.

Did you try viewing install.php after installation?  It should say:

The file 'config.php' already exists which would mean that PunBB is already installed. You should go here instead.

If it displays as above your site is safe.  If the form doesn't display on the webpage, hackers won't have access to it.  The only thing the public has access to is whatever displays as a webpage - the PHP source code is safely tucked away.

I would recommend that you remove it. It doesn't fill any purpose once the forums are installed. Keeping it shouldn't be a security problem, but why have it lying around when it isn't used anymore?

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure whether it was still needed for the script to function properly.
