It's a feature that has been in vBulletin for years now. I don't like it that much. It's "fluff" :)

Argh 
But ... it's great for non coders like me not to "destroy" parser.php ... and another thing ... best bbCodes found (in particular with dhtml / css / layout options) could be integrated on future versions of punBB ? ...
I didn't know vbulletin : I have always had phpBB, since I fall on ... your site

Let us name it "super customize"
in phpBB you can choose the colors and change themes online without changing files
when i see that i refused for this reason
- i can't edit css files in DreamWeaver or FrontPage etc..
- it sotred in DB that mean slow
- i can not copy and past as easy as files
- i must backup and restore to upload my theme
now for BBCode that mean more defcult for me
My ask is when i need super customize, i think
when you offer many forum for your customer without give him any permissions to change files (just forums), may the same code but different DB.
like LYCOS, for that reason, need "super customize", I dont like to make my forum slow for that reason.
If your people come crazy, you will not need to your mind any more.
