Help....I am trying to install to my fedore core 2 server...i made a folder called Message_board and copied the unziped files to the folder. when i try to run ./install.php i get permission denied. what am i doing wrong?....i am logged in as root and the Message_board folder has write access
You can't run the install from the command line.
Fire up a browser and run it from there.
never ran a install from a browser :S how do i do that?
First off, is apache running?
If it is, copy the contents of upload to a folder off your http server's doc root. Let's call it /forum/
Also you need Mysql to be running.
Then you just run http://localhost/forum/install.php
Take a look at the install.html file in the zip.

Yes, when you do a http://localhost - what page comes up?
Then look for that folder where that page is stored, that's your document root.

ok one other thing....i have NO experiance with MYSQL....it is installed and up and running....what is the best way to config mysql and there is not docs on how to set up mysql with or for punbb....
ok i suggest you go get some free hosting, www.smamhosting.com (free and nice) just sign up on that and mysql php etc will all be setup for you just ftp and go
We have our own servers.
well before mysql you need php, have you got that? and i guess you google for a guide to setup on your system is the easiest way
well right now i need help on how to set up the mysql database for punbb.....where would i go to get the help i need for mysql??
I got it working but i get this when i and wanting to add or change catagoies
