Re: PunBB 1.2 - What's to come
For the smilies in 1.2, the smile and the wink are very deformed.
I created a version not deformed and (I find) more beautiful :

hmm the height of the mouth? yeh i think yours looks slightly less freaky but i'm not sure
Hello all,
just a suggestion, while we are speaking about smilies : why not one or two smiley-like icon(s) meaning, for example 'important' with the advantage of a quick access code such as : !!!
I mean, something like that : (just hotlinking example).
About the french translation, indeed, it's and old version, pretty done (but I would have prefer courriel instead of e-mail : it's a french translation, isn't it ?), but not complete at this time for 1.1.5.
I don't know if someone is working on it ?

I would wait for 1.2 final before making language packs for it. I may still make changes to the language pack structure.
I just removed "BBCard" from the todo list. I don't have any clear idea on how to implement it and that means it will only delay things. I'll put it on the 1.3 todo :D

For "courriel", I think many people understand "e-mail". It's like "newsletter" and "infolettre", "newsletter" is more known.
And for the french translation, I work on it and I think that all the people who want it can work above.
Hello Kiplantt,
(last message : a bit of topic)
I you need some help for the french translation, feel free to contact me.
About the fact french speaking people also do understand email, of course, but if it is a translation it should be french standard to my mind : http://www.oqlf.gouv.qc.ca/ressources/b … glais.html for good french.
So don't hesitate contacting me by mail if needed.
abclf.
Thank you very much, but I want the translation which is understood best, not to make a book like Prust.
It's a big debate which to have to choose between a word purely French-speaking or drawn from English.
I must as say as your link is very good.
Maybe it?s nice to use <link>s in PunBB 1.2, so that you can press the ?next page? button in some browsers (like Mozilla and Opera) to view the next topic, or use the ?RSS? button in Firefox to subscribe to the RSS export of the forums.
Sander: Good idea, but wouldn't it make more sense to have the next/prev buttons take you to the next page in the topic instead of to the next topic?
Yes, you?re right. And then you can use the ?up? button to see the topic list. And maybe a link to the help page (<link rel="Help">). It would be nice to be able to switch CSS styles with those links too (a quick way to see what style you like), but maybe it?s better to do that with profiles, like now.
is the list on the front page the most updated? if so does that mean we'll see 1.2 soon?
The list on the front page?
I assume Dr.Jeckyl means the todo list on the first page of this topic
Anyway, Dr.J, I think it is I for one can't wait - spent some time modifying the 1.1 board to XHTML some time back for the site I'm doing the coding for. Now that the site is beginning to come together, I can't wait to put punBB 1.2 on it, and have both valid XHTML and CSS-based design. The cleanest, fastest, most modern (in terms of standards compliance) board I've seen Thanks Rickard - and Paul.
Ah, ok. Well, yes, it's basically done. Paul has some markup/css work to do and I have a few bugs and tweaks left to work out, but it's only minor stuff.
WEEEEEE!
can't wait. no pressure tho.
One of the things that is annoying in the current version of punbb is that you are transferred to the forum you move a post to when you move a post (strange sentence). I would like to see that you stay in the forum that the post/topic was originally in.

I'll have a look at it.
but if you move a topic, you might want to leave a message in the topic you moved, so if you would be sent back to where it was, you need to jump around to find that forum you moved it to ...
So, there's two sides on it ... I'd probably like it best to be able to use tabs in FF and open up threads that I want to move in just another tab ... then I get the best of two worlds (if one will be sent back to the original forum, that possibility dissapears totally)
Edit: (I think it's possible to open link in new windows in IE with chift or ctrl + mouseclick)
hmm...I guess it's up to Rickard to make pro/con values on the two ways
yeah, but you can post your message first (as I do) and then move the topic...
But if you post the message first, you're bumping the topic in the "wrong" forum.
Hehe, I read that link in the last post at racismcentral.com - I thought it was a little risky!
:-)
I must say 1.2 is looking fantastic. Great work guys.
I do have one question, however. Sorry if it's been asked before!
Will the BBCode parser be XHTML-safe when 1.2 reaches a final release? By that I mean will it be outputting well-formed HTML?
The reason I ask is that I would like to integrate it into a (XHTML) site that sends itself with a mimetype of application/xhtml+xml and thus requires tags to be correctly nested.
e.g.
[b][i]The tags are not correctly nested[/b][/i]
will cause a XML rendering error in Gecko browsers etc.
i think that will give you a BBcode error in 1.2
i think that will give you a BBcode error in 1.2
Do you mean it should display a message informing the user of 'incorrect' BBCode?
/edit - Ah yes, I see what you mean - just tried entering the code tags incorrectly. That's a nice feature.
Currently it's just outputting malformed HTML in the same way that the BBCode is, when using my example above with bold and italic tags, and not returning an error.
