Topic: Cache error

I am getting this error when I try to change the announcement.

An error was encountered
Error: Unable to write configuration cache file to cache directory. Please make sure PHP has write access to the directory 'cache'.

I have checked the cache folder three times and it does have write access (chmod 777). I don't know what the problem is. I worked fine a few days ago. My host recently did a chown on all folders in my account becuase a groupware application rewrote the permissions for a few folders, rendering me unable to delete them.

Any suggestions?

make sure the files in there is also chmodded accordingly ... (as it will need to edit that to update the cache)
