Topic: Split topics

Lorax (among others) requested a "split topic"-function. I think it's a good idea, and I had nothing to do, so I started making the mod.

oh very nice, on my forum some ppl have said things that i think should have been said in a new topic cuz its just so blank and dont have anything to do with the topic. this is a good mod

It seems to work fine. I'll probably release a first version today or tomorrow. Must make som more tests first, and create the hdiff-file.

Well.. It's on a webhosting service (middleground) so there shouldn't be anymore downtime.

The project part is considered stable. But the style part isn't written yet. I will wait for 1.2.

Hello

I'm done a french version to this mod : do not use the "en_splittopic.php" files but the "fr_slipttopic.php" files in the archive

the modification for the files fr_common.php is explain in the read me text.

Love the mod... however, can someone check whether it updates the num_replies on the topics table correctly?  I've had issues (using a old version perhaps) that doesn't, which stuffs up the paging....

although it might be integrated in 1.2 final release, i modded this one into our current version 1.1.5.... thx, it's nice and works perfectly!!

OK, I need this ability to split topics real bad.

I have just started a forum at my website  - most visitors are 10-16 year old kids looking for help with math.

Trouble is, they don't know about starting new topics, etc. They seem to use it like chat or something.

So, I need to be able to choose a particular post and place it and subsequent posts into a new topic. That  would help a lot.

But I have 1.2, and I don't think it was included. If it is there somewhere let me know smile

Otherwise, could someone give me a few clues how to get this to work in 1.2 ??

Sorry, but I think converting this to 1.2 would take alot of work (maybe not 'alot'). I also think that Chacmool is busier with other mods (i hope so smile) like the PM mod
