just a suggestion : comment in the legend of the search area the minimal number of letter to type and go searching ? and an dedicated error message maybe ?

it would probably be hard to do a dedicated error message but you could do a list of possible problems and "hints" for improving the search

The problem with this is that all language packs will need updating and that's a lot of work.
