This error is coming up once I've installed punbb as per instructions. Any pointers as to what is wrong ? This error is coming up
There is no valid language pack 'English' installed. Please reinstall a language of that name.
I have installed, and chmoded the cache & lang dirs to 777. Host is fully php/mysql enabled etc. Can't work out what the hell is wrong !

Try re-uploading English directory in lang/
Have done so several times.
Open up include/common.php and look for
@include PUN_ROOT.'lang/'.$pun_user['language'].'/common.php';
Try removing the @ at the beginning of the line and see if you get a more descriptive error message.

Well, the error message states that PunBB is unable to access the file common.php in your language pack. Are you sure it's not a permission problem?
I had the same problem. The folder "lang/English" was written as "lang/english".
(Copy problem from windows to unix...)

So how did you fix the prob? I just renamed "English" to "english" and this has had no effect? Then renamed back to 'English' and still not working.
I've also chmoded every file to 777.

the case will only cause problems on a unix based server

Does anyone have an idea of what is causing this? I'll have to go with another board script if I can't sort it soon (any recommendations?)
i would delete the files (except config.php) and reupload it all to be sure its all there
I've done this three or four times. Everything has been uploaded correctly, I've re-installed twice, and chmoded everything correctly.
Just for "fun", could you try it on a different server?
Just installed on another server and getting exact same error ? What is up ??!

I get a 404 for that link.
However, the fact that you get the problem on another server as well leads me to believe that you're doing something wrong. What do you use to upload the files?
just installed newest version and is now working. god knows what was going on there.
Another question, however. Can i disable users being able to choose their own style?
Just remove all other styles (or keep them in another folder, in case you change your mind)
