Topic: punbb-1.2.4 ->install.php ->$config misses endmarker= '?>'

Hello everybody. Hallå allihopa. Lycksele här.

install.php has variable $config, which is used for writing to config.php, when this page is created.
define string for $config misses php endmarker: ?>
Is this a bug???

TODAY:
I have installed punBB today for first time.
Best forum I ever tested!!!
And I have tested at least 10-15 bulletin board softwares.
Including vBulletin commersial forum.

I prefer a forum which work with basic features. And does this FAST.
When you pollute a software with all these graphics: avatars, profile images, button images, and you name it,
no wonder is they becomes slow, many times to an annoying degree.
These addons does contribute to looks. But they can only worsen performance. Not improve.

/halojoy - loves punBB, a board of his style
lycksele snow is melting - spring is here within a month

Re: punbb-1.2.4 ->install.php ->$config misses endmarker= '?>'

actually the missing ?> is intentional as it is not needed and it only creates problems with whitespace at the end, as for PMs you can read the literally 100s of posts about it around the forum, basically alot of people think its too much of a bloat

I disagree with you. PM can be useful, but only for person who want it.
I think it would be a bad idea to include pm in the default punbb. If you need it, no problem, you can install the mod. Why do you want to oblige everybody to have PM.
PunBB spirit is that bloaty things are not included.
Moreover MP has inconvenients:
I'm registered on 5/6 punbb forums. It would oblige me to consult so many forums to see my messages! The method choosen with e-mail (hidden, for allowed or not allowed) is the good one.
If you want a mailbox without advertising, you can fine some without ad on free.fr
Finally you see I would not be pleased to have PM in default punbb smile

Yes, I now after discovered, there where several other pages also without  ?> at the end of file.
Now I know this is as it should be (and I am the one not knowing too much of PHP, yet).
So, I edited my topic above, not to confuse anybody else.
-------------

It is alright, with me, having PM only as spearate add-on.
I have to agree:
Perhaps for the better to have punBB clean and fast and SHINING ... there are 1000 and 1000 of mods and features that can shame a BASICALLY streamlined and great WORKING BB-software.

Thanks for very positive attitude, with which you reply and discuss.
