Topic: Chatrooms and PunBB
Anyone know how to add a chatroom with instant messaging, not one that refreshes to PunBB? Or if you can't dose anyone know a great free service like PunBB but as a chatroom?

i'm working on one, its next for me to do i'll try to get it out this weekend (i've been needing to finish it for months now

Your demo use java cant work behind a firewall (proxy)
Unable to connect : java.net.SocketException : Network is unreachable: connectI prefer html + javascript chatroom.

SigmaChat from Raidersoft is a decent free one. Have to use once every 60 or 90 days to keep it active.

In fact here we have a proxy and we must asked "is there any port not blocked", for that i like SVN instead of CVS , with SVN you can downloads the source by http protocol over the proxy.

for some reason you can't connect then, my server might be dead or you might have blocked ports or something you need to be able to connect to irc for it to work

I'm sort of opposed to Java/PHP.
Why not a minimal PHP/MySQL chat built in?
But, like Connorhd says - "well basically i like this, and if you don't like it then don't use it"
So, I'll stick with not using it.

where is a nice php based chat room?

erissiva if the chat saved in database i'm affraid it might not good method but still possible, cause it will make the database server busy, just thingking when 50 people join the room at one time. While java is working as client side which is connect to chat server at irc it will look likes mirc. The problem is only the client computer has to be installed first with JRE(java runtime environment) or other component should be there, but java automatically detects that so it will install by itself.

Stanch, one of our Nucleus users, sent this chat board to me a while back. It's written in PHP and uses Mysql, I gave it a try and it worked rather well.

I don't think there are any good PHP ones, as you must install it seperatly on the server..
I did find a good CGI one, which you can find here
most people aren't allowed to use that, hosts don't like irc stuff
