Topic: Should I run PunBB on a PostgreSQL or MySQL database?

I'm just wondering as my host is upgrading a lot of thing a PostgreSQL databases have just been added. I was wondering if I should use them for things like PunBB and textpattern instead. And is there any way to transfer the data over if so?

PunBB's support for PostgreSQL is rather limited. It works of course, but it does not take advantage of any of the advanced features it supports over e.g. MySQL. I recommend that you stay with MySQL unless you can find a good reason not to.
